The mental condition of adolescents and children in Papua is currently worrying. They are vulnerable to various problems at the developmental stage such as mental and emotional problems related to emotional disorders, depression, resistance and behavioral disorders. the behavior or actions that arise by each individual depends on the emotional and thought conditions that arise before they decide to do something. The research is a descriptive analytic study with cross-sectional design aimed to determine the conditions that affect mental health in 80 teenage students of SMK Negeri 1 Sorong. The measuring instrument used was a questionnaire. simple logistic regression analysis test results show that parenting style, motivation and discipline simultaneously have an effect on adolescent mental health with a significance value (0,000 0.005). Discipline, learning motivation has an influence on adolescent mental health with a significance value (0,000 0.005) but parenting does not affect adolescent mental health with a significance value (0.382 0.005). Adolescents need support including the environment to prevent mental disorders because it has a close relationship with academic success. Ages 5 to 12 years are the age group that is susceptible to caries. The high caries prevalence rate of 42.6% reflects the low level of knowledge about dental health. The knowledge about dental and oral health will indirectly influence the health of the teeth and mouth so that it can prevent dental caries. The knowledge is used as a self-education to achieve the optimal dental and oral health. To find out the relationship between the dental caries knowledge level with the DMF-T Index. This research used the analytic survey with the cross-sectional data collection. This research was conducted in December 2018 to January 2019. The population in this research was the 5th grade students of the North Walitelon State Elementary School. The samples of this research were the 39 5th-grade students with the total sampling. The research instruments were questionnaire and the DMF-T Index examination format. The data were analyzed using the Kendall’s tau-b correlation test. The level of knowledge with the good criteria had a low DMF-T Index of 92.3%, the moderate was as much as 2.6%, and the fair knowledge level had a low DMF-T Index of 5.1%. The Kendall’s tau-b test results showed a relationship between the dental caries knowledge level and the DMF-T Index, and the obtained p value = 0,000 (p < 0.05). The high knowledge level of dental caries affected the results of the DMF-T index.

BACKGROUND: Families with family members experiencing illness are traumatic experiences. Family empowerment through psychoeducation is one of the interventions to caring for families with children under 5 who experience diarrhea. This intervention can provide educational information to families regarding problems caring for children under 5 with diarrhea, management of diarrhea under 5 years of age, and family support in caring for children under 5 with diarrhea. The preliminary study showed that nurses and health workers did not provide psychoeducation to families. AIM: This study aims to know the effect of the family empowerment psychoeducation on family support in caring for children diarrhea at the primary health center. METHODOLOGY: This study is a quasi-experiment research with pre- and post-test control group design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using pair t-test, Wilcoxon independent t-test, and Mann–Whitney with a significant level of p < 0.05. RESULTS: Before being given family empowerment through psychoeducation, family support was mainly in the good category as many as 34 respondents (73.9%), and after the intervention, the good category increased to 95.7%. In the intervention group, there is different family support in caring for children under 5 with diarrhea pre-test and post-test after being given family empowerment through psychoeducation with p (sig) < 0.05. There are no differences in family support between the intervention and control groups after family empowerment psychoeducation. CONCLUSION: There is an effect of the family empowerment psychoeducation on family support in caring for childhood diarrhea in primary health centers in the intervention group.
