5085Bis(p-fluorophenylethynyl) derivatives were obtained by the reaction of bisbromoaromatic compounds with p-fluorophenylacetylene in the presence of a Pd catalyst. Subsequent oxidation of these products using an h--DMSO system led to new bis(p-fluorophenylglyoxalyl)ketones, a-diketones, and heterocyclic compounds.
New Activated Bisfluoroaromatic Compounds.-Palladium catalyzed cross-coupling of the bis(phenyl bromides) (I) with acetylene (II) gives the bis (fluorophenylethynyl) derivatives ( III) which are smoothly oxidized to the corresponding bis( fluorophenylglyoxalyl) derivatives (IV). Compounds (IV) can be used in the synthesis of polyethers showing liquid crystalline properties. -(RUSANOV, A. L.; KESHTOV, M. L.; BELOMOINA, N. M.; MIKITAEV, A. K.; SARKISYAN, G. B.; KESHTOVA, S. Synthesis of New Bis(p-(phenylethynyl)phenyl)hetarylenes and Bis(p-( phenylglyoxalyl)phenyl)hetarylenes.-The synthesis of new bis(p-(phenylethynyl)phenyl)hetarylenes (III) by cross-coupling of dibromoarenes (I) with phenylacetylene (II), and their oxidation to the corresponding p-(phenylglyoxalyl)phenyl derivatives (IV) is presented. -(KESHTOV, M. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
