Background: Nephropathy is one of the major micro-vascular complications of DiabetesMellitus, which can be detected in the earlier stage by the investigation of urinarymicroalbumin excretion level, estimation of ACR and GFR. The Siddha drug SirupeelaiKudineer indicated for the complications of Diabetes Mellitus is selected for this Case study. The efficiency of the drug was reported by measuring the change in Renal function over theperiod of study and the KD QOL assessment. Case description: A male patient of 62 yearswith the history of DM and hypertension since 20 years came to the hospital with complaintsof bilateral pedal oedema, general weakness, frequent nocturnal micturition and weariness oflimbs since last two months. His renal profile and glycaemic index was deranged (SerumCreatinine -1.42 mg/dl; Blood Urea -54.3 mg/dl; Urine Micro albumin -99.45mg/L; UrineCreatinine -74.8 mg/dl; ACR -15.02 mg/mmol; eGFR - 64.5 ml/min; BSL (Fasting) -157mg/dl; BSL (Postprandial) -289 mg/dl). Patient was taking certain oral allopathic medicinesand injection huminsuline 30/ 70 in the dose of 35 units before lunch, and 30 units beforedinner subcutaneously. As per Siddha concept his three humours deranged and seen with theClinical features of Madhumega roga avathaigal and Neeradaippu. He was given Siddhamedicine Sirupeelai kudineer-120ml twice a day for the period of one month. Significantrelief in symptoms and improvement in certain renal parameters was noted in the subject. Conclusion: The clinical and laboratory parameters in this case study suggest that this drugmay be used along with other allopathic drugs in the treatment of Diabetic nephropathypatients.
Background: Covid19 a massive threat to public health worldwide addressed the need of Clinical
interventions to decrease the incidence and severity of illness. Aim of the study is to assessObjectives:
the effectiveness of Siddha intervention- Kabasura Kudineer in prophylaxis of COVID-19 with the assessment of laboratory
parameters before and after intervention. The secondary objective is observance of any Adverse Reaction due to consumption
of Kabasura Kudineer. The subjects selected for the study are initially subjected to clinical examination, biochemicalMethods:
Investigation, assessment of Immune status and quality of life. Kabasura Kudineer was given to the subjects and advised to
take it as per the prescribed dosage for 14 days. Subjects was observed for occurrence of mild to moderate symptoms of
COVID-19. The follow-up period is another 14 days and after that, the clinical assessment was carried out. The clinicalResults:
assessment of 400 subjects enrolled showed improvement in quality of life through WHO-QOL-BREF assessment. The ISQ
score is increased in all cases after the intake of Kabasura Kudineer and follow-up. There was no incidence of Covid 19 in
subjects taken the Siddha intervention. Haemoglobin level of 76% Subjects taken KSK showed strong positive correlation (r =
0.9) and great signicance (t18 = -5.29, p < 0.001) with 95% CI. The RBC count value of 56% subjects treated with KSK exhibited
strong positive correlation (r = 0.87) and signicance (t13 = 4.41, p < 0.001). No incidence of COVID-19 in highConclusion:
risk population of this interventional study concludes that the immunomodulatory activity of the drug may support for the
prevention of Covid 19 infection.
