This work aims to investigate the influence of temperature and chemical impregnation in the textural and morphological composition of the bio-adsorbent of bio-adsorption via thermal cracking of the seeds of açaí. The experiments were carried out at 400 °C and 450 °C using a pilot scale reactor. The efficiency of the organic process was calculated in terms of liquid and solid products selected with a chemical impregnation process with NaOH, mainly with the liquid that had a greater product conversion. The elementary samples of the solid products occur with the occurrence of carbonization with an increase in the temperature of the process and the presence of impregnation. The textural and morphological characterization occurred with an analysis of FT-IR, SEM/EDS, XRF, and B.E.T. The in-phase product was developed through the creation of açaí seed in nature and impregnated with NaOH solution (2 M) at temperatures of 400 °C and 450 °C. The adsorption kinetics of acetic acid were investigated at 5, 10, 15, 20, 60, 120, and 180 s. The adsorption is higher at 450 °C and with the chemical impregnation of NaOH since the experiments were able to remove an amount of 317.51 mg acid/g adsorbent acetic acid. All the models analyzed fit the experiments, both for the kinetic models (pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order) and for the equilibrium models (Langmuir and Freundlich).
This paper presents an experimental investigation of the perturbation of a turbulent closed-conduit flow by two-dimensional triangular ripples. Two ripple configurations were employed: one single asymmetric triangular ripple, and two consecutive asymmetric triangular ripples, all of them with the same geometry. Different water flows were imposed over either one or two ripples fixed to the bottom wall of a closed conduit, and the flow field was measured by PIV (particle image velocimetry). Reynolds numbers based on the channel height were moderate, varying between 27500 and 34700. The regime was hydraulically smooth, and the blockage ratio was significant. Experimental data for this specific case remain scarce, and the physics involved has yet to be fully elucidated. Using the instantaneous flow fields, the mean velocities and fluctuations were computed, and the shear stresses over the ripples were determined. The velocities and stresses obtained in this way for the single ripple and for the pair of ripples are compared, and the surface shear stress is discussed in terms of bed stability. Our results show that for the single and upstream ripples the shear stress increases at the leading edge and decreases toward the crest, while for the downstream ripple it decreases monotonically between the reattachment point and the crest. The stress distribution over the downstream ripple, which is different This is a pre-print of an article published in Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, 40:138, 2018. ABSTRACT:This paper proposes a view on the photography published by G Magazine, a Brazilian magazine focused on the gay public. The perspective is to identify the discourse built on the language of naked male 'body-signs'. Based on concepts about the contemporary communication, notions on sexuality stated by Foucault, Freud and Lacan, and on image and photography by Dubois, Barthes and Peirce, we establish a parallel between Lacan's registers and Peirce's categories. The anatomic disposition of the body-signs constructs a conservative discourse on system's male position, providing the main role of practice and manifestation of power.
