Nurses working at psychiatric hospital are in challenging and a potentially high stress. The impact of stress and professional challenges can lead to harmful impacts for those nurses as burnout or physical and mental health problems. Resilience is a positive adaptation to nurses" stress management ability and mental wellbeing. The aim of this study is to promote the resilience among nurses caring for patients with psychiatric disorders. Setting: the study was conducted at Tanta Mental Health Hospital. Subjects: 60 nurses were recruited in the study. Tool: it was composed of two main parts: part1: Socio Demographic characteristics and work experience data were developed by the researchers. Part 2: The Connor -Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) is a self-rated assessment of stress coping ability. The scale was developed based on concepts of hardiness, adaptation, and stress endurance. It is 25 items, all of which carry a 5-point range of responses. Total sum scores range between 0-100, with higher scores indicating greater perceived resilience. Result: There was a statistically significant difference between total means scores of (CD-RISC) scale pre and post-program (8.632 P < 0.05). The studied psychiatric nurses had moderate resilience mean score pre-program, while, the means score of resilience was high post education program. Conclusion: the resilience health education program is an effective tool in promoting the resilience. Recommendation: Further research should be collaborated about work environments is an important factor to improve resilience and promote an effective work atmosphere for the nurses and suggesting mentorship programs in order to improve resilience by improving positive and supportive professional relationships, emotional insight, life balance and spirituality.
Background:The emotional divorce considers a catastrophic problem in society as it destroys all family and has negatively effects on child psychological wellbeing and mother psychological hardness. Aim:The aim of this study is to assess the association between emotional divorce, mothers' psychological hardiness and child's psychological wellbeing. Design: this study followed descriptive correlational design. Setting :Basic education governmental school at Tanta city and Kafrelsheikh city Tools: The data was collected using three tools: Tool I: Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scales (PWB), Tool II: Emotional Divorce Scale Tool III: Psychological Hardiness Scale Result: the basic result revealed that the highest percentage of the mothers have high emotional divorce and of majority of mother have lower psychological hardiness and most of children have mild psychological wellbeing , there is statistically significant negative correlation between children psychological wellbeing and mothers emotional divorce and negative correlation between mothers' emotional divorce and their psychological hardness Conclusion: the present study concluded that, emotional divorce affect mothers' psychological hardness and children psychological wellbeing . Recommendations: It is necessary to develop further scientific family program to improve spouses' mental health so they can cope with and adjust to life's challenges and stressors.
Psychiatric patients' awareness regarding importance of outpatient's services has acquired great importance. Patient satisfaction is playing an increasingly important role in quality of care reforms and health-care delivery. The study aimed to determine the effect of educational program about psychiatric outpatient follow-up on patient's awareness and satisfaction of outpatient psychiatric services. Quasi experimental research design was used . The present study was conducted at psychiatric outpatient clinic at Tanta Mental Health Hospital. Sixty of psychiatric patients attended to outpatient's clinic for six month. Two tools were used to collect data for the study .Structured Interview for patients' awareness of outpatient services and Client Satisfaction Questionnaire, to assess client satisfaction with treatment. Results of the study indicated that. There was a significant relation between the patient's level of satisfaction with outpatient's services before and after education program. It was concluded that the implementation of educational program about importance of outpatient services and follow up lead to improve the patient's level of awareness and satisfaction with these services.The study recommended Future research, to identify those specific factors, which this study could not probe into, to help devise plans for improving the service in accordance with expectations and needs of the patients and their caregivers, for better satisfaction with care and improved services.
Empathy is considered a useful skill for psychiatric nurses. It is an essential component of a caring relationship and especially critical to the provision of professional quality of life. The Aim of this study is to assess Psychiatric nurse"s empathy, burnout and its relation with professional quality of life. This study followed a descriptive design. The present study was conducted at Tanta mental health hospital, 84 nurses. Three tools were used to collect data for the study, Tool 1:t consists of two parts Part 1; a structured interview schedules use to socio-demographic data. Part 2 Interpersonal Reactivity Index (Empathy), Tool II Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire and Tool III Professional Quality of Life Scale. The result reveled that there was a significant positive correlation between nurse"s empathic concern and total burnout score at r=0.575, p=0.00 and significant positive correlation between the nurses" compassion satisfaction total score and their personal fulfillment at r=0.319, p=0.003. Conclusion; it was concluded that psychiatric nurses are at high risk for burnout related to imbalance between level of Compassion fatigue and satisfaction that affect the quality of life in addition to the nurses had high level of empathy concern with high level of distress .The study Recommended that the health care professionals realize what the causes and effects of burnout are, seems to be important. It is being planned to carry further, longitudinal research, in which causes of burnout will be investigated as far as correlation with empathy level is concerned. Auditory hallucinations are prominent feature of psychosis that can threaten, disturb, command and capture voice-hearers in a demoralizing cycle of dependence, isolation and destructive activities. Fortunately, there are many coping strategies that voice-hearers can use to challenge these voices, impose their own limits and thus regain some control. The aim of the study was evaluate the effect of an educational program based on coping strategies enhancement (CSE) on the dimensions of auditory hallucinations as a psychotic symptoms . The study sample consisted of 50 Psychiatric inpatients having auditory hallucinations, able to communicate relevantly and who are hospitalized at Tanta Mental Health Hospital that is affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Population . A quasi-experimental design was utilized. Three tools were used for data collection: Socio-demographic and Clinical data sheet, Auditory Hallucination Rating Scale used to measure various dimensions of hallucination and a Structured interview schedule of self management of auditory hallucinations . The results revealed that there was a statistically significant improvement between mean score of hallucination and total coping score before implementation of the program, immediately and after one month of implementation. The study concluded : A marked decrease in the allover damnation of auditory hallucination of the studied patients as the result of receiving an educational program about enhancing different coping strategies to cope with auditory hallucinations . Recommended: develop and implement educational programs for nurses about auditory hallucinations and coping strategies to deal with it .
