Ensuring the process of economic development is extremely complex and it is carried out under the influence of a whole range of different contradictory and sometimes mutually exclusive factors. Experience shows that the idea of the historical conditionality of development, progress, social evolution finds its practical application not directly to the individual socio-economic system, but as a general direction, the vector of movement of world civilization. The purpose of the study is to conduct a comprehensive study of growth strategies of "breakthrough" economies and developed countries to identify features of their development.The methodological basis of the study was the works of domestic and foreign scientists, which reveal the essence of the strategy of economic development of different countries. The comparative analysis, historical analysis, and statistical method were used in the study. Results of the study.In the study, growth strategies of "breakthrough" economies and developed countrieswere analyzed and systematized.Characteristic features of strategies for the development of "breakthrough" economies and developed countries were also highlighted.Among the common features of economic development strategies of countries with breakthrough economies are the following: withdrawal of maximum benefits from the openness of the world economy; support for macroeconomic stability; support for high growth rates of savings and investment, public investment in infrastructure; giving markets the opportunity to independently manage the allocation of resources; the presence of an ideological and qualified government. The results obtained have significant practical value and can be used to improve economic development policies and reduce inequalities between countries in the world.The authors conclude thatthe pace of economic growth of the country is most often determined by the pace of its technological progress. Strengthening productive capacity can help developing countries and the least developed countries to achieve sustainable economic development, reduce poverty, reduce inequality, increase exports.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the implementation of strict quarantine restrictions, the global economy has faced serious challenges that have increased the number of corporate bankrupts around the world. To survive on market under new conditions any enterprise should be able to promptly assess its risks of insolvency. In Ukraine the trade was one of the most affected areas of the domestic economy (nearly one-third of trade enterprises have gone bankrupt), that is why it is very crucial to find out an adequate model for assessing the bankruptcy risk of commercial enterprises. This article is devoted to the research of challenges and oppor-tunities of trade enterprise insolvency assessment. The object of research is risk discriminant and logit models as an instrument of trade enterprise financial stability assessment, based on the financial indicators. The key research methods were used in the article: analysis of scientific literature and comparison method. In the study, in accordance with the aim, were analyzed foreign (Lithuania, Poland, Russia) and domestic models for assessing the level of bankruptcy risk of trade enterprises, discussed their advantages and disadvantages. Authors came to conclusion, that the most significant problem is the lack of attention to models that forecast the proba-bility of trade enterprises bankruptcy. Moreover a lot of models does not include the indicators of receivables and payables, which can significantly affect the liquidity of the company. The authors also highlighted a number of specific features of trade enterprises, among them are: 1) significant amounts of receivables and payables; 2) food trade enterprises have a fast sales cycle and perishable goods, which significantly increases the risks of the enterprise; 3) stage of the life cycle of the enterprise; 4) a significant level of depen-dence of trading companies on demand, which decreases sharply in a crisis and causes significant fluctuations in corporate revenue; 5) availability of offline and online sales channels. All this features should serve as a basis for further research to improve approaches to assess the risk of bankruptcy of such companies.Keywords: bankruptcy, trade sphere, enterprise, industry features, discriminant model. Через пандемію коронавірусу і введення жорстких карантинних обмежень, глобальна економіка зіткнулася з серйозними викликами, які спричинили різке зростання числа банкрутств підприємств по всьому світу. Однією з найбільш постраждалих сфер економіки в Україні стала торгівля, що актуалізувало проблему вибору адекватної моделі для оцінювання ризику банкрутства торгових підприємств. У дослідженні, відповідно до поставленої мети, проаналізовані зарубіжні та вітчизняні моделі оцінки рівня ризику банкрутства підприємств торгівлі, виділені їх переваги та недоліки. Найсуттєвішою проблемою відзначається недолік уваги до моделей, які оцінюють ймовірність банкрутства підприємств торгівлі. Авторами також виділені ряд специфічних осо-бливостей підприємств сфери торгівлі, урахування яких повинно послужити базою для подальших досліджень в напрямку вдосконалення підходів до оцінки ризику банкрутства таких компаній.Ключові слова: банкрутство, сфера торгівлі, підприємство, галузеві особливості, дискримінантна модель.

Ensuring economic security is one of the key functions of the risk management system at the enterprise, since its low level has a destructive effect not only on the development of the economic entity, but also on the economy of the country as a whole, especially in operational conditions complicated by hostilities. The purpose of the scientific article is to study the key elements of the «mechanism of economic security of the enterprise» by systematizing scientific approaches that reveal its content for further scientific development in this direction. Method or methodology of the work. The methodological basis of the study were the works of domestic and foreign scientists, who reveal the conceptual and categorical apparatus from the theoretical and practical aspects of ensuring the economic security of the enterprise. To write the article, the following general scientific and special methods of scientific research were used: concretization and abstraction – for consensual definition of the essence of the mechanism of economic security; grouping – to systematize approaches to identifying the constituent elements of the mechanism of economic security; logical generalization and comparison – to highlight the main elements of the mechanism for ensuring the economic security of the enterprise. Results of the study. In the study, scientific approaches to the definition of «mechanism of economic security of the enterprise» were analyzed and systematized, their features were highlighted. Based on the results of the research, the authors outlined the key elements of the economic security mechanism of the enterprise. It includes the following elements: functional; tools and methods of influence; factors influencing the economic security of the enterprise. Scope of practical application of the results. The obtained results have significant practical value and can be used by the management apparatus to improve the policy for ensuring economic security at the enterprise. Conclusions. The authors conclude that in modern economic literature, the opinions of researchers about the essence and number of elements of the economic security mechanism is difference, due to its multidimensionality and complexity.
