There are many challenges facing teachers in the classroom, throughout the process of training translators and interpreters in higher education. This paper aims to share reflections and teaching practices related to the preparation of these future professionals, in the context of caring for a vulnerable group of the immigrant community, Unaccompanied Foreign Minors (UFM). The proposal is based on taking a step further in the Teaching Practice and Development (TPD) methodology of Specialized Translation and Bilateral Interpreting subjects by incorporating new knowledge such as that related to Public Management or Social Sciences. This is due to the firm belief of the author of this manuscript in the quality of training from a multidisciplinary approach that will undoubtedly bring many more benefits, not only to the students, but also to UFM as a sensitive group, to the Administration as a competent body and, also, to the host society.This proposal arises from a simple question: Are future translators and interpreters prepared to manage their work in a vulnerable context? To answer this question, it is necessary to analyze the practical knowledge acquired by these professionals in the preparation phase. Thus, the main objective of this work is to demonstrate that the use of real texts in the Translation and Interpreting classroom is a bet that leads to an excellent academic training. Furthermore, this multidisciplinary work will serve as a model to be followed by teachers in this field
The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the relevance of the pragmalinguistic factor in the processes of translation of humorous discourse from Arabic into Spanish, specifically in the work of the Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz. The selection of this author’s narrative as the basis of the present work is due to the increase in the number of published translations of his works into other languages, including Spanish, especially in the last two decades. On many occasions, the lack or difficulty of transferring the humorous discourse into Spanish as the target language is observed, due to the lack of involvement of the pragmalinguistic factor in the translation process. In this sense, we will carry out a pragmatic analysis of some fragments of the Egyptian writer’s work, to verify the influence of this factor in the success or failure of the translation process of the humorous discourse. We will also provide answers to some of the difficulties encountered in the translation process, to guarantee the hilarious effect for the reader in the target language. The result of this analysis may help in future translations of the writer’s works, as well as in the translation of humorous discourse in general.
LA TRADUCCIÓN ESPECIALIZADA ESPAÑOL-ÁRABE EN EL ÁMBITO DE INMIGRACIÓN Y REFUGIO. ANÁLISIS LINGÜÍSTICO
Resumen:En los últimos años, la llegada a España de un gran número de inmigrantes ha supuesto un cambio importante a nivel social en esta sociedad de acogida. Asimismo, este movimiento migratorio ha sido una llamada de atención para la reorientación profesional de los traductores en la materia específica de la Traducción Especializada. Este cambio en el paisaje laboral de los traductores ha sido un nuevo reto en el que los traductores especializados han tenido que desarrollar nuevas habilidades con el fin de adaptarse a una nueva realidad profesional y social. El traductor ha de atender a la necesidad de desarrollar una nueva metodología en la que los conocimientos sobre la legislación vigente, los aspectos de las Ciencias Sociales o el Derecho Público y, sobre todo, los aspectos culturales de la lengua meta son factores sumamente importantes con el fin de desarrollar su tarea de la forma más eficaz posible. En este trabajo pretendemos aclarar los aspectos más relevantes para llevar a cabo la tarea de la traducción de la documentación utilizada en la atención a refugiados y solicitantes de asilo del español al árabe. La documentación que ha sido objeto de análisis pertenece al Centro de Acogida al Refugiado en Sevilla del año 2017 y 2018.
