Abstract—This study aims to analyze students' scientific critical thinking skills through learning with edmodo-based blended learning models. This study is Pre-Experimental using one group pre-test post-test design involving 35 class VIII students at Public Junior High School 10 Jember, Indonesia. The instru-ments used were teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, scientific critical thinking skills assessment sheets, and student motivation sheets. Before and after learning activity, students are given the same initial test (pre-test) and final test (post-test). The collected data was analyzed by quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that: (1) students are motivated in classical learning by 78.13% with motivated criteria. The highest value is on the likes and active indicators using Edmodo, which is equal to 88.47% and the lowest value on the indicator of activity asks questions and opinions at edmodo, which is equal to 70.93%; and (2) there is an increase in scientific critical thinking skills of students with a mean n-gain of .32, with the criteria being moderate. The highest value is achieved on the indicator of fact analysis, which is equal to .55 and the lowest value on the indicators of delivery of argumentation, which is equal to .19. The conclusion of this study is that science learning with an edmodo-based blended learning model can motivate learning and improve scientific critical thinking skills of junior high school students.
The Physics Independent Learning (PIL) model is an authentic problem-based model designed teaching guide for improving self-directed learning and problem-solving skills in open and distance education. This research is aimed to analyze the validity and effectiveness of PIL model. This research was conducted using focus group discussions of experts that consisted of three science education experts and applies quasi-experiment of one group pre-test and post-test design to 144 students in East Java, Indonesia. Before applying the lesson using the PIL model, the students are given pre-test and after accomplishing the learning, the students are given post-test. The data collected from pre-test and post-test then is further analyzed by means of validity coefficient (rα), Cronbach’s alpha (α), pair t-test, n-gain and ANOVA. The result of research shows that rα = .75 and α = .92 is for content validity; rα = .79 and α = .99 is for construct validity, so that PIL model is validity and reliability qualified. In addition, there are increasing scores of physics problem solving skills and self-directed learning skills of α = 5% with moderate category of n-gain consistent in a limited trial test and of high category in a broader trial test for all groups. Keywords: PIL model, model validity, model effectiveness, physics problem-solving skills, self-directed learning skills, electricity, magnetism.
Many researches on e-book development have been done, but they are different from the development of e-book literacy (ELITE). The developed ELITE has several advantages, including features that can be utilized to train students’ scientific literacy, the integration as a source of student learning, and teacher’s teaching material in learning. This study aims to produce ELITE which is reliable in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness review. The e-book developed is said to be worthy if at least it has good enough criteria. Type of research that is appropriate with the design of ELITE media development to practice scientific literacy is ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). The data collection employed included validation, observation and questionnaires. The obtained results show that the validity was in very valid category (learning 91.67%, material 92.71%, media 94.27% and language 90.74%). The practicality results are categorized very good with a percentage of 87.50%. The results of effectiveness based on the pre-test and post-test results are as follows: the scientific literacy competence to explain the phenomenon scientifically increased by 52% and the scientific literacy competence to interpret data and scientific evidence increased by 59%. The results of this effectiveness are included in the quite good category. In addition, the effectiveness results based on students’ positive responses are categorized very well (85.71%). Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that the ELITE media developed is feasible to be used to train junior high school students’ scientific literacy particularly on solar system material.
This study aims to describe the feasibility of interactive multimedia based inquiry on material Human Reproduction System to improve learning outcomes and practice students critical thinking skill. The feasibility product is measuring by validity, practically and effectiveness result. The validity product by looking expert media, and content expert valued. The practicaly instructional package showed by learning implementation, and students intrested . The effectiveness by looking at learning outcome and the diffrence between the scores of pretest and posttest achieved by the students. This research is design by instructional learning package design based on Dick and Carey model , developing design media based on ASSURE model and involved XI Science grade at SMA Negeri 1 Batu Sopang. Data from the expert of media, content, design and students intrested were obtained by using observation and test. The data was obtained analyzed by descriftif analyzes technic. The result of research show that the validity of learning material is valid category, implementation is very good category . Aspect of the student response individual user is good, with 32,13 % very agree and 55,3 % agree at the real implementation. The students intrested on lerning model is good category. Learning achievment of cognitive, psychomotoric and sosial spiritual attitude aspect than increasing critical thinking skill. N (gain scores) analyses showed that there are average gain score increasing 0,8(high gain). This study thus showed that interactive multimedia base on inquiry developed feasible to improve learning outcome and practice students critical thinking skills Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kelayakan multimedia interaktif berbasis inkuiri materi sistem reproduksi manusia untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMA.
