Tires are a very important component of a vehicle, a variety of charges are imposed on the tires when the vehicle is stationary or moving. The various loading styles directly rest on the air trapped in the tire, and cause the rise of pressure to flow in accordance with the magnitude of the various forces it receives. The rise in tire pressure mainly occurs when the vehicle is in motion, where the tire gets a compressive force from the constant load of the vehicle and the shock load due to the road contour. High pressure and rising and falling causes heat on the tire which then heat is moved to the rubber tire layer. Besides also because of the heat when the surface of the tire tread rub against the road during acceleration and braking. Assuming that heat is the main cause of tire damage then this study will try to analyze the influence of tire rubber temperature on the ability of work to withstand the air pressure in the tire. The loading received by the tire rubber coating is assumed to be the same as the tensile test that will be applied to the tire when used. This tensile test will be carried out on the rubber tire layer by heat treatment before it is tested. Temperature treatment starts from a temperature of 30 until 110 with a range of 20 degrees, with the expected stress value and the best strain obtained at that temperature range. The tire samples used in this study are two of the most used tire brands on ankle truck trucks which are the most widely used truck types. With tensile test the tire performance is generally very good at low temperature up to 70 degree temperature, above 70 degree temperature tire performance began to decrease due to the increased strain on the tire material so that the ability to resist high pressure by the pneumatic force of the wind inside the tire decreased relative Against the increase in tire temperature.
The commonly known natural dye substance processing for traditional clothes, such as batik and tenun (woven cloth) is fermentation. The fermentation process can specifically be continued with extraction to produce indigo paste. The process can be done mechanically, i.e. by stirring process, and chemically. In order to accelerate the production, manual process of aeration can be substituted with jet-spray aerator. The aerator prototype which has been developed is acrylic aerator tube with diameter of 240 mm and thickness of 5 mm. The tube was made 1 m long to provide with a sufficient space for indigo foam. Its bottom part is completed with spiral air hose having five small holes of 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6 mm diameter uniformly located along the height of solution in the tube. The aerator was designed for the 10 litters of fermentation solution of 1 kilogram indigofera leaves. Based on the mass of indigo paste produced, the optimum working condition of the aerator is achieved on 3.8 m/sec air velocity and supply pressure of 2 bar with duration of 60 minutes. The aeration test indicated operational characteristic was quite good, i.e. Oxygen Transfer Rate (OTR) of 3.6 kg/hour, Aeration Efficiency (AE) of 4.8 kg/kWh and factual Oxygen Transfer Efficiency (OTE) of 44%.
Oscillating Heat Pipes one of the new family of heat pipe is two-phase heat transfer technologies with excellent performance capabilities, simple structure and low production costs. As one of the non-intrusive method in temperature measurement, thermography observation in OHP still very rarely to use although the result was able to explain the relation between temperature oscillation and fluidic motion of fluid. Furthermore this paper aims to study the behavior of thermal profile with the thermography observation. Water with filing ratio (45%) has been chosen as the working fluid for the close loop OHP. The heating power was varying into the evaporator section of OHP from 12 until 142 Watt. It was found that thermography observation very useful tools to define internal flow pattern inside OHP channel. Intermittent oscillation, circulation and dry-out phenomenon was captured more better than conventional temperature measurement. The lowest thermal resistance was found 0.234 °C/W corresponding with 3210 Watt/mK effective thermal conductivity at heat input 142 Watt.
Components in the field of transportation that greatly affect the amount of transportation costs are fuel, tires and maintenance costs. On average, a tire used by commercial vehicles such as a truck, must replace all of six tires every 3 months, with a cost of approximately 1.5 to 2 million rupiah on every tire. As an academic, the author tries to study this problem by making tools to reduce tire wear rates so that later it can have an impact on reducing transportation costs. The method used is an experimental test directly on objects with treatment according to the use in the field. The temperature that causes the weakening of the tire is kept below 50 degrees celcius with a cooling device with the method of expanding air to release tire heat due to pressure and friction. The tire cooling device that has been made is attached to the left tire of an engkle truck which then operates as usual carrying sand material from the Sebudi Karangasem area to the sand dump in the Jimbaran area. Every 2 day a tire wear measurement is performed both on the left tire that gets cooling and on the right tire that does not get cooling. Furthermore, the wear rate data on the left and right tires are compared to obtain the difference in tire wear rate that gets cooling and which does not. From the data obtained, the results show that the cooling rate of tires that get cooling treatment tends to be 5,3 percent slower than the rate of tire wear that does not get the rate of cooling. From this figure it can be concluded that the use of refrigeration devices is less effective in reducing the wear rate so that other methods are needed to reduce the rate of wear.
Abstrak: VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) merupakan minyak yang diekstrak dari kelapa murni. VCO bermanfaat untuk kesehatan sebagai antioksidan dan menjaga kolesterol HDL dalam darah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari pembuatan mesin produksi skala kecil yang diperlukan untuk memproduksi VCO dengan reduksi waktu produksi dan sesuai dengan kualitas SNI 7381. Beberapa home industri di Bali dan jurnal ilmiah dijadikan objek penelitian. Suatu model mesin produksi VCO berkapasitas 14 liter telah dibuat dan diuji. Hasil pengujiannya menunjukkan sistem COP yang baik masing-masing 3,93 dan 2,8 untuk sistem pemanas dan pendinginannya. Suhu ruang pendingin VCO di ruang produksi dapat dipertahankan pada kisaran suhu 8 0 C hingga 10 0 C, dan juga untuk pemanasannya, suhu dapat dipertahankan 39 0 C hingga 42 0 C. Dengan demikian, peneliti telah berhasil membangun suatu purwarupa mesin VCO dengan proses produksi yang lebih efisien. Kata kunci: VCO, Mesin Produksi, Sistem Refrigerasi.
