Rapid economic, social and technological changes have turned social skills into an absolute necessity for human resources and the achievement of a successful career. Organizations during employee selection, evaluation or development processes aim mainly in detecting and advancing such skills.The current paper presents the views of employees working in banking and telecommunications companies in Greece regarding the necessary social skills for achieving a successful career success and professional development. Their views were examined through a small scale empirical research conducted amongst staff and managers of various corporations.In the conclusion one will find a discussion of the relevant research findings which showed that a high percentage of the research subjects believe that Communication, Leadership, Flexibility and Adaptability skills, are very important for the successful completion of every day professional tasks.
This paper examines the impact of mentoring in primary education. The research undertaken with primary education teachers working in schools of the Achaia Region, (Greece), analyses their beliefs and attitudes towards the implementation of mentoring and the relation of these attitudes with demographic data.Theories regarding the meaning, process, techniques and benefits of mentoring are explored in the first part in order to explain the impact of a mentor in a school environment. The second part presents and interprets the data collected and detects the relation between teachers´ attitudes and demographic data.
The complexity of teachers' work, the ever increasing demands of their role and the special conditions of their work environment are the cause of their work related anxiety.The School Counselor (SC) can contribute to alleviate all occupational anxiety by means of support and leadership.The aim of our project is to investigate the level of work related anxiety of preschool teachers, the factors contributing to this, as well as the contribution of the SC to its minimization. Finally, we portray the profile of the desirable leading figure of the-School Counselor, his/her role, and characteristics, as such are described by preschool teachers.
Theorists in adult education tend to believe that in order to increase effectiveness, instructors-tutors should respect adult learning characteristics. Trainees -students should be in the center of the educational process and instructors-tutors should use collaborative training techniques that offer adult trainees opportunities for real participation. Our study aims at identifying and analyzing the perceptions of postgraduate students of the Hellenic Open University (E.A.P.), as regarding the use and the effectiveness of teaching techniques during the Tutorial Group Meetings (O.S.S.)
Nowadays individuals belonging to sensitive social groups face serious problems in their professional and social integration, due to their particular characteristics and multidimensional deficiencies in education, training and their promotion in the job market.
The present work attempts to investigate the effectiveness of the integrationist approach system in the promotion of sensitive social groups in the job market. In the first part,the term sensitive social groups is analyzed, as well as the significance of integrationist approach in the integration of these special demographic groups in the job market, through their participation in Continuing Vocational Training programs. Meanwhile, the term effectiveness and quality is semantically clarified in the frame of Continuing Vocational Training programs.
In the second part, the results of a research are presented. The research was realized in individuals that belong to sensitive social groups and which participated to Continuing Vocational Training programs in Achaia, Greece, from 2004 to 2009.The paper is completed with conclusions and their discussion.
