The aim of this research is to ascertain the impact of the RAP reading strategy on the academic progress of pupils in vocabulary and reading comprehension. The sample for this study comprised 45 pupils (22 females and 23 males) from Sriwijaya State Polytechnic who were in their second semester during the 2022-2023 academic year. This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental approach. The study employed a vocabulary test, a reading comprehension test, and the RAP reading strategy. The data analysis used mean, standard deviation, standard error mean, and t-tests for both the vocabulary test and the reading comprehension achievement test. The statistical significance level was set at .05. The study demonstrated that there were significant differences in reading comprehension achievement and vocabulary mastery between the experimental group and the control group. However, the RAP reading strategy was found to be more effective in enhancing reading comprehension achievement and vocabulary mastery than the traditional reading strategy. Overall, the RAP reading strategy can be a valuable tool for improving students' vocabulary and reading comprehension.
The online flipped classroom is growing in popularity as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread throughout the world. This type of learning is necessary in many places where traditional classrooms are not possible or safe to attend. To examine the effects of the OFC model, this study used a quasi-experimental design. Moreover, this study aimed to identify English language students’ attitudes toward the OFC model of instruction. There were sixty-five students of classes XIC and XID at MAN 3 Palembang that were split into experimental and control groups randomly. The control group was treated with Blended Learning, while the experimental group was treated with Online Flipped classroom. Mixed-method design was carried out in this research. To ensure homogeneity and normality, both groups took a reading comprehension pre-test at the beginning of the study. After the experiment, the post-test was given to the experimental and control groups. The statistical analyses of independent samples t-test showed that the experimental group had better reading comprehension scores than the control group. The results of frequency analyses showed that EFL students in the experimental group had more positive attitude towards OFC model of instruction and agreed that it was helpful to them in many ways. It is suggested that OFC can be used as an effective methodology for teaching reading comprehension to EFL students.
This research entitles The Effect of Problem-Based Learning Model (PBL) on the Students’ comprehension of the English Reading Text. It is aimed at finding out the differences in students’ comprehension of English reading text using the PBL and the TBL models. The methodology used was an experimental method in which there were two groups available. The first group was an experimental group that was treated using the PBL model and the second group was a control group that was treated using the TBL model. The learning models were applied to find out the one which had the greatest effect on the students’ achievement in English reading comprehension. Since the subject delivered was Reading IV, the sampling technique used was purposive sampling, the sample chosen was students of semester IV, English Department of State Polytechnics of Sriwijaya. Based on the result of two-way analysis of variance or ANOVA AB on the level of significance of α = 0,05, it is found that Fhitung = 4,555 dan Ftabel (0,05;1:40) = 4,08. Based on the value of Significance on the table of Tests of Between-Subjects Effects on line A that if it is less than 0.05, the result of the test is significant. In the table of 4.12, the Sig value for line A was 0.039, less than 0.05. Then it is concluded that students treated using the PBL model were far higher in English reading text comprehension compared to those who were treated using the TBL model.
