Indicação: auxiliar no processo de cicatrização de feridas: úlceras por pressão (escaras) de graus I, II e III, úlceras venosas, arteriais e diabéticas; feridas decorrentes de queimaduras; tratamento de feridas crônicas ou agudas com ou sem infecção; tratamento de Eczemas: Atópico, Asteatósico, de Estase e Radiodermite. Modo de usar: Na cicatrização, irrigar a lesão com soro ¬fisiológico, secar a pele ao redor e aplicar o óleo diretamente sobre a lesão. Ocluir com gaze estéril. Fixar conforme a necessidade do local afetado e reaplicar a cada 12 horas (doze horas). Na prevenção de úlceras por pressão, aplicar o óleo nas regiões afetadas, após higienização da pele. Precauções: Uso externo, não deve ser ingerido. Mantenha fora do alcance de crianças. Não estéril. Armazenamento: Conservar em local seco, em temperatura ambiente (15 °C-30 °C).
Himatanthus drasticus, also known as janaguba, is used popularly in Brazil's Northeastern region in the treatment of cancer. However, no scientific reports are available. The present study is the first investigation on the antitumor activity of crude methanolic extract from Himatanthus drasticus leaves against Sarcoma 180 tumor and on its side effects including acute oral toxicity. The OECD 423 methodology was used to study acute oral toxicity, and the STOCK methodology to assess antitumor activity. The crude extract showed low toxicity at the tested doses (50, 300 and 2000 mg/kg) administered orally. The histopathological analyses demonstrated alterations in liver lung, spleen and kidney. It also showed activity against Sarcoma 180 tumor in male Swiss albino mice, evidencing tumor growth inhibition of 67.7% and 68% at 300 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg doses, respectively. Sarcoma 180/experimental study.Himatanthus drasticus, conhecida popularmente como janaguba, tem uma longa história de emprego na cura do câncer no nordeste brasileiro, porém quase sem registro na literatura. O objetivo desse trabalho foi investigar a atividade antitumoral do extrato bruto metanólico das folhas de Himatanthus drasticus frente ao modelo experimental Sarcoma 180 e avaliar sua toxicidade aguda. A determinação da toxicidade aguda foi realizada segundo a metodologia da OECD 423 e o transplante do tumor sólido de sarcoma 180 foi realizado seguindo a metodologia de Stock. O extrato apresentou baixa toxicidade nas doses testadas (50, 300 e 2000 mg/kg) por via oral. A análise histopatológica apresentou alterações em nível hepático, pulmonar, baço e renal. A atividade antineoplásica apresentou inibição tumoral significativa em relação ao grupo controle nas doses de 300 mg/kg e 400 mg/kg de peso do animal com um percentual de inibição de 67.7% e 68% respectivamente. RESUMO:Os efeitos da administração oral do extrato metanólico (EM) de Cereus jamacaru DC., Cactaceae, foram investigados sobre os parâmetros hematológicos e bioquímicos em ratas Wistar adultas grávidas. Vinte ratas (n = 5 por grupo) foram tratadas durante quatro dias consecutivos com EM por via oral nas doses de 100, 250 e 500 mg/kg de peso e, em seguida, determinados os perfis bioquímico e hematológico. Os resultados mostraram que durante o período do tratamento não foi observado efeitos nocivos ou óbitos. Os parâmetros hematológicos e bioquímicos não foram modificados pela administração oral do EM, excetuando-se o aumento significativo de 45,7% e de 41,9% para alanina transferase (ALT) nas doses de 250 e 500 mg/kg além do aumento significativo, respectivo de 48,2%, 39,8% e 41,8% para aspartato aminotransferase (AST). Em relação aos valores hematológicos, registrou-se flutuação dentro dos valores de referência na contagem diferencial de hemoglobina, de neutrófilo e de linfócito. Dessa forma, a administração do extrato metanólico de C. jamacaru não apresentou reações tóxicas sobre a maioria dos parâmetros hematológicos e bioquímicos estudados em ratas Wistar adultas grávidas. Entretanto, o aumento dos níveis séricos de AST e ALT em doses elevadas sugere uma sobrecargas hepática, as quais devem ser investigadas em maiores detalhes.Unitermos: Cereus jamacaru, mandacaru, prenhez, hematologia, bioquímica.ABSTRACT: "Evaluation hematological and biochemical parameters of rats in the second thirds of the gestation submitted to the action of the extract methanol of Cereus jamacaru DC., Cactaceae". The effects of oral administration of methanol extract (ME) prepared from stems of Cereus jamacaru DC., Cactaceae were investigated on the biochemical and hematological parameters in pregnant adult Wistar rats. Twenty rats (n = 5 per group) have been treated orally for four consecutive days with ME in doses of 100, 250 and 500 mg/kg weight, and then, it was determined the biochemical and hematological profiles. The results showed that during the period of treatment there was no signs of toxicity or death. The hematological and biochemical parameters were not modified by oral administration of ME, except for a significant increase of 45.7% and 41.9% for alanine transaminase (ALT) in doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg in addition to the significant increase, of to 48.2%, 39.8% and 41.8% for aspartate transaminase (AST). In hematology, it was registered a fluctuation within the reference values of hemoglobin in the differential count of neutrophil and lymphocyte. In this way the administration of methanol extract of C. jamacaru does not produce toxic effects or alters the majority of biochemical and hematological studies in pregnant adult Wistar rats. However, the increase of serum ALT and AST in high doses suggests a liver overload, which must be investigated in more detail. Phoradendron mucronatum and P. microphyllum are plants that found in tropical and subtropical areas, used in traditional medicine and popularly known as mistle-thrush. The aim of this study was to identify the chemical constituents of different leaf extracts from P. mucronatum and P. microphyllum and assess cytotoxic activity against strains from a human tumour cells. Extracts obtained with hexane, dichloromethane, chloroform and ethyl acetate from the leaves were analysed by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and the cytotoxicity was assessed by the MTT method (bromide (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide)). The tested human tumour cells were NCI-H292 (human pulmonar mucoepidermoid carcinoma), MCF-7 (human breast adenocarcinoma) and HEp-2 (epidermoid carcinoma of the larynx). Analysis by GC/MS of the extracts from leaves of P. microphyllum and P. mucronatum detected 51 different compounds, such as alkaloids, diterpenes, triterpenes, sterols, alcohols, aldehydes, fatty acids and hydrocarbons. In the cytotoxic evaluation, hexane and ethyl acetate extracts from the leaves P. microphyllum inhibited cell growth of NCI-H292 strains (72.97%) and HEp-2 (87.53%), respectively. The extracts of P. mucronatum species showed an inhibitory effect towards NCI-H292 (83.19%/hexane), MCF-7 (88.69%/dichloromethane) and HEp-2 (93.40%/ hexane). The extracts showed cytotoxic activity against the tested strains, especially the P. mucronatum, which presented the highest percentages of inhibition of cell growth.
