The Raman spectra of [SbCl4+][Sb2Cl2F9−], [SbCl4+][Sb2F11−], [AsCl4+][SbF6−], and SbCl4F(NbF5)x are reported. The spectra of all compounds except the last are interpreted in terms of a tetrahedral cation with weak association between the cation and anion. The spectra of the adduct found between SbCl4F and NbF5 are interpreted in terms of polymeric fluorine bridged arrangements.
An X-ray crystallographic analysis indicates that SbCl,F, exists as a cis-fluorine-bridged tetramer giving a distorted octahedral arrangement of halogen atoms around each antimony atom.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
