Global concerns regarding climate change and sustainability have led to a recent worldwide push towards electricity derived from renewable and sustainable resources. Among all renewable resources, wind energy is one of the fastest growing worldwide, facing power system with new obstacles including transmission congestion. To mitigate transmission congestion and utilize current transmission system optimally, the restructured network with compensators is proposed as an alternative solution. Compensators are usually used to compensate active and reactive power and keep the stability of system on desired level. In this paper, we study the impact of FACTS devices like STATCOM and SVC on voltage profile, loading parameter and stability of a network integrated with wind resources.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
