Adsorbent is an adsorption that is used to absorb various pollutants. Adsorbents can be used from natural materials. Natural ingredients that can be used are oil palm empty bunches. Oil palm empty bunches are a carbon-rich material that is getting new research interest in adsorption because of its abundance and properties. Oil palm empty bunches contain carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, sulfur, lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose. Oil palm empty bunches are used as adsorbent for water saturation.
Kata kunci : urin sapi, pupuk organik cairAbstract The service activities have been carried out at the “Sidodadi" and "Maju II” farmer groups, East Sukadamai village by the utilization of cow urine as the starter in liquid organic fertilizer. The main purpose of this activity is 1) to improve the knowledge and skills of farmer/ranchers in making liquid organic fertilizer from cow urine as a main ingredient 2) to help improving the income and welfare of farmers/ranchers from the agricultural sub-sector. This service activities began with a partnership approach with the implementation team with LPM Unimed and local governments as well as the Farmers Group, followed by counseling and training as well as direct application by farmers. The results of implementation of the project showed that the member of each groups; (1) have the knowledge and insight about the potential and the usage of cow urine as starter in fabrication of liquid organic fertilizer; (2) have good skill to prepare liquid organic fertilizer; (3) have shown the positive effect of the liquid organic fertilizer on growing the plant. Keywords : cow urine, liquid organic fertilizer
The purpose of this study was to alleviate the problem of student learning activities through the use of innovative chemistry learning media, namely chemopoly-edutainment. This type of research was a pre-experimental study. The approach used was descriptive qualitative approach. This research has been done in Medan State University in 2017 year. The selection of research subjects was done by purposive sampling, i.e., Chemistry Department students as many as 36 people. Data were collected using observation sheet to measure learning activities. Then, students' responses were measured using a questionnaire. The results showed that learning about chemicals separation by using chemopoly-edutainment media could help students to be more active in learning. The activeness of students in the highly active category was found at 77.16 percent. While active students learn was reached 20.68 percent. In addition, found as many as 2.16 percent of students who were quite active. The study also found that none of the students were less active or inactive in teaching and learning activities using the chemopolyedutainment medium. The students' responses to the use of chemopolyeudtainment media on chemical separation learning was also found to be positive.
The influence of length and condition of Biomass Storage on the biosorption of lead and zinc that present together in a solution by Saccharomyces cerevisiae biomass were studied. In this experiment, variables of length and condition of biomass storage were examined. Concentration of lead and zinc were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometric (AAS) using air-acetilene as atomizing flame. Loading of lead and zinc on the biomass were determined as the difference between the initial and the final concentration of lead and zinc in the solution. Biosorption of lead and zinc were influenced by condition and storage of the biomass. Storage of biomass in the room temperature for one week cause an increasing uptake. Storage for longer period result in decrease of lead and zinc uptake. Storage of biomass in a freezer up to 2 weeks increased the uptake of lead, but did not influence the uptake of zinc. Storage for longer period decreased the uptake of both of lead and zinc. For all condition the uptake of lead higher than the uptake of zinc by Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
OPEFB is one source of natural fiber-based composites which have the potential to become activated carbon. This study aims to synthesize and characterize the activated carbon/alginate -Cu composite. The characterization used in this study is FTIR. The results of this study The synthesis of activated carbon/alginate -Cu composites began with a process of carbonization and activation with H3PO4 to produce Activated Carbon. Alginate using commercial alginate. Furthermore, the three ingredients were mixed until homogeneous and put into a 0.1M CuSO4 solution to produce beads. The characterization of FTIR characterization on the activated carbon/alginate-Cu composite contained the functional group OH group, triple C bond from stretching alkyne, C=C aromatic group, C-H alkane group, C-O group , the P=O stretching vibration of the P-O-C group and the alcohol OH group expressing the active carbon; there are functional groups of hydroxyl (OH), carboxyl, carbonyl, and C-O-C and –COOH bonds which represent alginate and there are OH functional groups, stretching C-H bonds, C-O stretching, stretching C-C. The KALg Cu13 sample had a peak at a wavelength of 2838.79 Cm-1 Where the four samples show the presence of C≡N groups.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
