This service aims to provide environmental care socialization in Pangambat village. As a tourist village, Pangambaten village has problems in dealing with environmental challenges related to environmental cleanliness, so there is a need to educate and inform the community about environmental problems. One of the commitments of the international community and government in protecting the earth from pollution and damage is through the implementation of Environmental Education, which is the key to preparing people with knowledge, expertise, values and a caring attitude so that they can actively participate in solving environmental problems. The counseling on environmental care in this service program is intended as an initial step in building a character that cares about the environment in the community. This service was carried out in Pangambaten, Tanah Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province. This service is carried out in two methods, namely the interactive presentation method. This service activity is carried out in the following stages: 1) Equalization of Community Group Perceptions, 2) Group coaching, 3) Counseling on understanding about fostering environmental concern for environmental cleanliness by reviving the tradition of mutual cooperation.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeksripsikan tahapan-tahapan daritradisi mangalahat horbo dalam upacara saurmatua, fungsi yang terkandungdalam tradisi mangalahat horbo dalam upacara saurmatua, nilai-nilai kearifanlokal yang terkandung dalam tradisi mangalahat horbo dalam upacara saurmatua.Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori speaking yang dikemukakan oleh Dell Hymes (1974), teori fungsi yang di ungkapkan oleh Leech(1992), teori kearifan lokal yang dikemukakan oleh Sibarani (2014). Adapunmetode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dapat penulis simpulkan adalah (1) 3 tahapan persiapan dan 8 tahapan pelaksanaan dalam tradisi mangalahat horbo dalam upacara saurmatua, adapun tahapan tersebut adalah pasada tahi, mompo/manggopoi, marriaraja, tortor bius, tortor pangurason, tortor tunggal panaluana, pajonjong borotan, manogu horbo, mangalahat horbo, padalan jambar, sipitu dae. (2) terdapat/terkandung fungsi tahapan persiapan dan 8 tahapan pelaksanaan tradisi mangalahat horbo dalam upacara saurmatua. (3) terdapat 13 nilai-nilai kearifan lokal yang terkandung dalam tradisi mangalahat horbo dalam upacara saurmatua, yaitu, kesetiakawanan sosial, kerukunan & penyelesaian konflik, kesopansantunan, rasa syukur, kesejahteraan, pendidikan, pelestarian dan kreatifitas budaya, pengelolaan gender, kerja keras, pengendalian diri, gotong royong, disiplin, dan tanggung jawab.

There have been so many changes that have happened to the House or Bagas Godang because of the progress of the times.
This study aims to describe the meaning and symbol of the Cawir metua ritual ceremony, namely the death ceremony for the Karo community in Seberaya village, Karo district, North Sumatra Province. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method which is done by collecting data by observation and interviews; descriptions that are bold and deep in nature, working with key informants. The theoretical framework used is the Social Semiotics approach, which is to interpret language in the sociocultural context in which culture is interpreted in semiotic terms as an information system. Based on the research that has been done, the authors obtained the results of the research, namely the symbolic meaning of the Cawir metua ceremony is the existence of symbols that have philosophical meanings in the Cawir metua ceremony.are still poor and need to be improved.
