In a study of the use of tritylglyeerols as starting materials for synthesis of mono-or diglycerides and mixed triglyeerides, it was found that aeyl migration can be minimized or prevented by detritylation in petroleum ether, avoiding contact with polar solvents or contaminants. Under conditions favoring acyl migration, tetrabromostearoyl radicals were found to migrate less readily than stearoyl radicals.
