Abstract Dysmenorrhea is still an unresolved public health problem that may negatively impact women's health, social relationships, school or work activities and psychological status. Managing dysmenorrhea can be done with self-care therapies or using complementary therapies to reduce pain with minimal side effects because of the natural ingredients. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in types of complementary therapy with dysmenorrhea in students of the Faculty of Nursing at the Universitas Klabat. The study employing observational analytic research with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique was accidental sampling and 223 female students approached to participate. The finding shown that majority of participants 103 (46.2%) experienced moderate pain dysmenorrhea. As for the type of complementary therapy used by female students, it was found that 6 female students (2.7%) used warm compress therapy, 4 female students (1.8%) used relaxation therapy, 2 participants (0.9%) used herbs, 68 (30.5%) used mineral water therapy, 2 (0.9%) did not do any therapy, 141 (63.2%) used combination therapy. Kruskal-Wallis statistical test showed that there was statistically significance difference between the types of complementary therapy and dysmenorrhea in nursing students at the Universitas Klabat with a p value of 0.003 (<.05). It is recommended for women that the usage of complementary therapies for the management of dysmenorrhea is applicable and for further research to research the most effective and efficient complementary therapies for dysmenorrhea. Keywords: complementary therapy, dysmenorrhea Abstrak Dismenore masih merupakan masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang penting yang dapat berdampak negatif pada kesehatan wanita, hubungan sosial, kegiatan sekolah atau pekerjaan dan status psikologis. Penanganan dismenore dapat dilakukan dengan perawatan mandiri atau menggunakan terapi komplementer untuk mengurangi rasa nyeri dengan efek samping minimal karena dari bahan alami. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbedaan jenis terapi komplementer dengan dismenore pada mahasiswi Fakultas Keperawatan di Universitas Klabat. Metode penelitian. menggunakan jenis penelitian analitik observasi dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu accidental sampling dan 223 mahasiswi bersedia menjadi partisipan dalam penelitian ini. Distribusi frekuensi dismenore pada mahasiswi Fakultas Keperawatan di Universitas Klabat menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas mengalami nyeri sedang 103 (46,2%). Sedangkan untuk jenis terapi komplementer yang dipakai oleh mahasiswi didapati 6 mahasiswi (2,7%) menggunakan terapi kompres air hangat, 4 mahasiswi (1,8%) menggunakan terapi relaksasi, 2 mahasiswi (0,9%) menggunakan herbal, 68 mahasiswi (30,5%) menggunakan terapi minum air mineral, 2 mahasiswi (0,9%) tidak melakukan terapi apapun, 141 mahasiswi (63,2%) menggunakan terapi kombinasi. Uji statistik Kruskal-wallis menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan antara jenis terapi komplementer dengan dismenore pada mahasiswi Fakultas Keperawatan di Universitas Klabat dengan nilai p = 0.003 (<.05). Rekomendasi kepada para wanita dapat menggunakan terapi komplementer untuk penanganan dismenore dan untuk penelitian selanjutnya dapat meneliti terapi komplementer yang paling efektif dan efisien untuk dismenore.
