This paper presents the development of a voltage conditioner, which main function is to supply the voltage of an isolated load within specified quality parameters, even during momentary or continuous loss of one of any system phase. In order to do this, the conditioner is able to transfer power between its phases through a common dc link. Besides load voltage conditioning, the studied system has a power conditioner at the source side that makes source current conditioning. The function of this source-side current conditioner is to provide a balanced three-phase current to the source. Power circuit configuration and control strategy are presented. Computational simulations in the time domain of various situations associated to a typical operation of an electrical system were performed and are presented. Large motor starting with meaningful voltage drop is considered in the study. This study was intended for developing alternative concept on electric power supply for future offshore oil production systems.Index Terms-Power conditioner, voltage conditioner, power transmission with loss of phase.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
