Cassava flour is a Brazilian product that still deserves attention for what regards sustainability. We offer a study of production processes and nutritional aspects of the flour from the Central Brazilian Amazon. We conducted bibliometric surveys, observations and collected 30 samples, in 15 traditional communities, that need cassava as a source of income and livelihood. We found that cassava cultivation under specific edaphoclimatic conditions guarantees the maintenance of autochthonous landraces. Still, we show their influence upon the flour's physicochemical composition, especially starch, mineral and fiber contents. Further, nutritional analyses allowed a qualitative approach of human health. We propose recommendations, such as: the mitigation of effects of residual cyanide, classifying the flour as safe food; the maintenance of traditional communities, and of genetic resources. Still, we suggest the adoption of a seal of approval and origin, and the creation of a gourmet market, thus adding visibility to Brazil's intangible heritage variety.

What follows is half an interview, half a passionate first-person report made by and with Professor Reinier Johannes Antonius Rozestraten, with the aim of remembering and telling his years at Ribeirão Preto (São Paulo, Brazil). He begins some time before, remembering how and when he arrived to Brazil, and what have been his first activities, and goes until more recent years, after his official retirement. Language is free and the whole text is a result of dialogues that were transcribed and edited with as few interferences as possible. The interviews were planned as part of another research project, but it is ended now, due to the death of Professor Reinier. Anyway, they constitute a very deserved homage to an important consolidator and immortal witness of brazilian psychology.

A tese proposta é a do Agente de Desenvolvimento Local como mediador entre os tempos da comunidade (dimensão coletiva) e do indivíduo (dimensão particular). Essa idéia é precedida de um enunciado sobre tensão entre a teoria social e a dimensão teológica da cultura, seguido de dois exemplos da tarefa do Agente de Desenvolvimento Local: a noção de diagnóstico e a de pecado. Paciência Histórica.Abstract: This text joins the concept of "patience" with some aspects of Endogenous Local Development, with special attention to the metaphoric world originated in theological language, one of the first and main historical matrixes of the imaginary of development. The proposition advanced is that the Local Development Agent is a mediator between the times of the community (collective dimension) and that of the individual (private dimension). This idea is prepared by a previous reflection about the tension between social theory and the theological dimension of culture, and is followed by two illustrations of the task of the Local Development Agent: the notion of diagnostics and that of sin. Historic Patience.Résumé: Le but de ce texte est celui de rapporter le concept de "patience" avec des aspects du Dévéloppement Local Endogène, ayant attention spéciale sur le monde métaphorique issu du langage théologique, qui a étée une des premières articulatrices de l´immaginaire du dévéloppement. On propose ici l´idée que l´Agent du Dévéloppement Local est un médiateur entre le temps de la communauté (la dimension collective) et celui de l´individu (dimension particulière). O presente estudo discute impactos da implantação de um empreendimento global agroalimentar, mediante investimento direto, em dois municípios do Sudeste de Mato Grosso do Sul. O ensaio utiliza entrevistas de campo e dados socioeconômicos. Aponta-se para a oportunidade de uma ideia de Desenvolvimento Local que fomente um tecido social participativo e autônomo diante dos desafios do mundo contemporâneo.
