Background: Considering the growing number of asylum-seeking children worldwide, research on interventions which may buffer the effects of early resettlement conditions on asylum-seeking children’s adjustment is warranted. In Canada, creative expressive workshops for asylum-seeking children and adolescents were implemented as a Psychological First Aid (PFA) intervention in temporary shelters. The present exploratory study aims to describe the implementation of these workshops to assess whether the intervention met core elements of PFA and explore its potential in supporting the diverse needs of asylum-seeking youth in temporary shelters, adopting a process-evaluation research approach. Method: The intervention was evaluated via a qualitative thematic analysis of extensive field and supervision notes and focus groups with facilitators. Results: Preliminary results suggest that the intervention contributed to fostering emotional safety and a sense of normalcy in children and supported the creation of connections among both children and parents. Children’s expression of past and present experiences during the workshops was seen as a way to promote self-efficacy in children and was reported as a potential way to provide some comfort and hope in a time of high instability. However, the high needs of children and the lack of resources in the temporary shelters represented significant challenges and barriers. Conclusions: PFA using creative expression may be a promising youth mental health prevention intervention in temporary shelters.

O processo imigratório acarreta uma série de desafios e não deixa de ter consequências no psiquismo dos sujeitos. Dessa forma, objetivou-se apresentar e discutir características do sofrimento psíquico desses estudantes estrangeiros residentes em Florianópolis. Para tanto, produziu-se uma pesquisa qualitativa na qual os dados foram coletados a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas com 15 participantes. Os dados foram analisados por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo, com suporte do software Atlas.ti. Assim, foi possível distinguir três subcategorias de análise: sintomas físicos, sociais e psicológicos. Observou-se um alto índice de somatizações, experiências de discriminação e relatos de sentimento de não pertencimento. The dimentions of psychological suffering in foreign university students AbstractForeign university students are a part of the category of voluntary immigrants, who travel with the objective of completing higher education in another country. The immigration process entails a series of challenges and has consequences in the psyche of these individuals. Thus, the objective here is to present and discuss characteristics of the psychological suffering of these foreign students living in Florianópolis. For that, a qualitative research was conducted; the data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 15 participants. For data analysis we used the technique of content analysis, supported by the Atlas.ti software. It was distinguished three subcategories of analysis: physical, social and psychological symptoms. It was observed a high index of somatizations, experiences of discrimination and reports of feelings of non-belonging. In conclusion, it is necessary to reflect on ways to soften the suffering and to thinking about specific programs for this population, especially in the university context. Introduction : Cette étude qualitative explore, chez les adolescents vivant avec le VIH acquis en période périnatale, suivis dans des sites de prise en charge pédiatrique du VIH à Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, le vécu de l’annonce de leur statut sérologique. But de l’étude : Trente adolescents et jeunes adultes vivant avec le VIH, âgés de 13 à 21 ans, ont participé à un entretien semi-structuré portant sur les conditions de l’annonce, leurs conséquences et les recommandations formulées. Les entretiens ont été traités à travers une analyse thématique, permettant de concevoir les parcours des adolescents vivant avec le VIH en termes de trajectoires de maladie et d’engagement dans la gestion de la maladie . Résultats : Nous avons identifié trois types de trajectoires du vécu de l’annonce du statut VIH : la trajectoire d’acceptation sans crise préalable, la trajectoire avec crise avant l’annonce, et la trajectoire de crise survenant après l’annonce. Ces trajectoires sont toutes trois sensibles au contexte familial et de prise en charge médicale. Les résultats de l’étude montrent l’importance de la préparation de l’annonce avec la famille et les soignants dans un cadre approprié et confirment l’importance du suivi post-annonce. Les pairs apparaissent comme une ressource importante pour ces jeunes, notamment quand ils sont impliqués dans le déroulement de la prise en charge des adolescents vivant avec le VIH. Conclusions : Par ces résultats, cette étude contribue utilement à définir des stratégies d’intervention, adaptées au contexte de la Côte d’Ivoire, pour améliorer le devenir des adolescents vivant avec le VIH.
ResumoO objetivo deste artigo é apresentar as práticas de liderança das indústrias catarinenses de grande porte e a sua contribuição para a Gestão do Conhecimento. A competitividade organizacional está relacionada às pessoas e à capacidade das empresas de fomentar o desenvolvimento constante do conhecimento. Por meio da liderança, os gestores e a Gestão de Pessoas criam comprometimento e melhoram os resultados das organizações. A metodologia adotada seguiu a linha da pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva e aplicada. Foram entrevistadas as sete maiores indústrias do Estado de Santa Catarina, em número de colaboradores. Utilizou-se também a pesquisa documental. Os dados foram analisados pela técnica de análise de conteúdo. Observou-se que a liderança está presente na maioria das empresas estudadas, por meio de programas formais de desenvolvimento de líderes ou de ações relacionadas à liderança. Conclui-se que as empresas têm o foco nas pessoas e no conhecimento, em maior ou menor grau, estando algumas em fase de transição e de revisão dos programas voltados ao desenvolvimento dos seus talentos e à Gestão do Conhecimento.Palavras-chave: Gestão de Pessoas. AbstractThe aim of this article is to introduce the practices of leadership in the largest industries of Santa Catarina and their contribution to the Knowledge Management. The organization competitiveness is related to the people and to the capacity of the companies to improve the constant development of knowledge. Using the leadership, the managers and the People Management have created compromise and improved the results of the organizations. The adopted methodology followed the qualitative methodology, descriptive and applied research. There were interviewed the seven largest industries of the state of Santa Catarina, in number of collaborators. The data were analyzed by the technique of analysis of content. It has been observed that the leadership is present in the most of the studied companies, by the use of formal programs of development of leaders or of actions related to leadership. It is concluded that the companies have the focus in the people and in the knowledge, in bigger or smaller degree, but some of them are in phase of transition and revision of programs towards the development of their talents and of the Knowledge Management.
