Contemporary society is actively engaged into technology innovations due to their multi-purposeful usage for personal, professional and educational reasons. Many new terms defining information communication technologies appear but the paper focuses on the interactive media, which may be considered as an integral part of the phenomenon. It is aimed to analyze and discuss the possibilities of integration of interactive media into language learning process to support the efficiency of the study process taking into consideration the needs and achievements of students. The lectures organized with traditional teaching material are getting old-fashioned gradually; therefore, new trends appear in the education process and technologies have to be successfully integrated by the teachers working in higher education institutions. Currently life pace is extremely fast, and rapid changes influence the life of young people who want to be well-educated and prepared for the further professional career. The research was organized to investigate whether the students of higher education institution demonstrate willingness to integrate interactive media into language learning process, i.e. students do not have to be passive users but actively apply and use interactive media in the learning process. Consequently, the teachers have to be familiar with the opportunities provided by the interactive media and acknowledge the necessity of its integration, but still some considerations and uncertainty exist. The methods used for the research are as follows: analysis of the scientific literature sources, content analysis, and questionnaires. Findings of the research are formulated after analysis of the collected data and they revealed the capabilities of the students to use interactive media and perception of the importance and usefulness of such measures.Majority of teachers demonstrate conservative attitude towards innovations and implementation of modern teaching/learning methods, but the situation will be improved putting the efforts in order to seek positive learning outcomes and modernize the study process.
In the early through to mid-20th century (before the Second World War), the Jewish population in Samogitian towns was quite abundant; they were generally business owners, and therefore there could have been various relationships between the rural Samogitian farmers and the urban Jews. The paper analyses the material of dialectal texts (recorded in the 1980s through to 2010s) from the ethnolinguistic perspective to find out how the Samogitian attitude towards Jews is reflected in the Samogitian linguistic worldview. The study focuses mainly on the methodology of the Lublin Ethnolinguistic School, in particular in terms of the view that language is directly related to culture, identity, and remembrance. The research revealed that the Jewish ethnic stereotype in the Samogitian linguistic worldview was quite positive, while especially negative evaluation was related to the context of religion.
The current situation in the global arena may be characterized as a rapidly changing process with new trends appearing. This situation is not a problem for the young generation which has many different names, such as the “Net Generation”, “Digital Natives”, “Y” and/or “X” Generation, etc. As a matter of fact, these modern names are closely associated withhigh consumption of virtual media, such as the Internet. A great majority of young individuals perceive their own existence mainly in the virtual space. Thus, themodern approachto communication demonstrated by the young generation cannot be refuted by any educationalinstitution or governmental body which are involved invarious processes of policy creation and regulation of modern societal norms. The educational system can be referred to as a priority in the entire world, because newly educated and trained specialists take an active part in the processesof economic, political, education, etc. development aiming to create a positive image of their country in the world. Multilingualism is part ofthe daily life due to the provided ability to communicate atan international level. New opportunities, such as travelling or jobsand studies abroad, expand people's horizons and demand new skills. A second language is amustin the contemporary world. Language acquisition is more efficient when innovations are integrated into the educational field. This article aims at revealingthe methods of practice ofvirtual cross-cultural interaction facilitating the acquisition and development of the foreign language communication skills. The conducted survey suggests thatvirtual cross-cultural interaction is an innovative routine acknowledged by every respondent, andallthe positive aspects are clearly and indisputably presented by the survey participants.
The article focuses on the relatedness of language and culture and the possibility to make oneself familiar with culture through phraseological units which have to be understood and interpreted appropriately. Language consists of a set of linguistic signs shared by members of various societies and cultures. People identify objects and events, they find or do not find behavior appropriate in certain situations, they create objects, texts and discourses that other members of the societies and cultures find meaningful or struggle for their correct understanding. The study conducted proved that phraseological units play an important role in culture cognition process and provide people with a huge amount of additional information on cultural aspects despite the proficiency of the language used.
<p>Proficiency in any foreign language or languages is very inspirational. Infinite desire, tough self-discipline and personal attempts are vitally important factors in foreign language learning. Unfortunately, this idea ends when learning difficulties appear. They can stop learners and isolate them from future progress. According to the scholars and practitioners, there is a solution – to make learning more modernized by incorporating virtual and global technologies. This study will investigate the issue of effectiveness of foreign language learning in the context of globality and virtuality discourses. Nowadays young people represent the global digital generation that demonstrates excessive and habitual use of technologies. Considering that issue, the article discusses the controversial role of globality and virtuality in learning a foreign language.</p><p> </p>
