Introduction: Fractures in children cause a long-term disability and decrease the quality of life in every person involved. Factors that affect fracture incidence must be identified so that we can create prevention management. This study evaluates children's fracture patterns in Saiful Anwar General Hospital Malang from January 2016 until August 2020.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted among children under 18 years old by analyzing patients' medical records. The characteristics of patients and fractures are reviewed using SPSS version 25 for Windows.
Results: We analyze 774 children as the sample study, with 70% of them being boys. Fractures mainly occur in the 12-18 years old group (92.8%). Most of them are caused by traffic accidents (58%). Consequently, the street (76.9%) is the most frequent place of trauma. Closed fractures (70%) are the most common type, and distal radius or ulna (21.2%) is the fracture's most frequent site. For treatment, the majority of patients have undergone closed reduction and casting (21.7%).
Conclusion: Fractures in children occur predominantly in boys and result from traffic accidents. A single and close fracture is the most common type of fracture.
Introduction: Ligament injuries commonly occur in the knee region, and the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) being the most usually injured. Currently, autograft or allograft is the most common material used for ACL reconstruction surgery. The result of the ACL reconstruction depends on the healing process of the graft or ligamentization between graft and bone tunnel. This study aims to evaluate the effect of Stromal Vascular Fraction (SVF) intratunnel injection to stimulates graft healing following ACL reconstruction surgery, as measured by histology examination.
Method: This study was an experimental laboratory study with a post-test-only control group design using male Rattus novergicus. A random sampling procedure was used to choose the sample, which was then divided into two groups. The two groups consist of the control group that only had ACL reconstruction surgery and the treatment group that had reconstruction surgery with SVF administration.
Result: This study used Advanced Ligament Maturity Index (LMI) score and showed a significant improvement of graft healing in the treatment group compared to the control group. The measurement is based on the cellular, collagen, and vascular aspect testing with P < 0,05 for each subscore.
Conclusion: SVF intratunnel injection stimulates graft healing after ACL reconstruction surgery and causes a significant increase in cellular, collagen, and vascular aspects in the graft.
Background:
Osteoporosis is characterized by a low bone mass of bone tissue. If
osteoporosis is not treated properly, it will increase the high risk of
fracture. The common causes of fracture on osteoporosis condition due to
falls. This study aims to find the correlation between the risk of
osteoporosis with fall risk (ONTARIO) based on osteoporosis fracture risk
(FRAX)
Methods:
This study is an analytic study with a cross-sectional method. We collected
the sample using random cluster sampling in the six primary health care in
Malang on different times service since August–September 2021. Total patient
139, however only 132 patients were included in this study. After collecting
data is complete, we analyze using Chi-square tests.
Results:
The mean age of participants was 63.9 ± 7.14. with the age group was
dominated by the range of 60–64. It was found that the result of the FRAX
SCORE had a low-risk category for major fracture osteoporosis and risk hip
fracture. In contrast, from the OSTA score in this study, more than 68
participants (50.8%) were found medium and high-risk scores. Then, in
ONTARIO score of the risk fall assessment, and high score in 57 participants
(43.2%). If compared between OSTA and ONTARIO, there was a significant
relationship between OSTA score and ONTARIO score
(
p
< 0.000) with high-risk OSTA have a significant
relationship with a high risk of falling and vice versa.
Conclusion:
In this study, there was a relationship between the risk of high osteoporosis
and the risk of falling.
