PurposeThis study aims to integrate predictions from clinical psychology and UPPS impulsivity with the theory of planned behaviors (TPB) to draw a conceptual framework and test the prediction that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms, impulsivity would contribute to the prediction of the reasoned cognitive process of entrepreneurship over and above key predictors from an extended TPB model.Design/methodology/approachThis study utilized a sample of 2,482 students from 14 universities/institutes in Vietnam; confirmatory factor analysis was employed to test the validity and reliability. Then, regression analysis with PROCESS macro approach (5,000 bootstrap sample and 95% confidence interval) was employed to estimate the association paths and multiple mediators.FindingsThe study reveals that ADHD symptoms and impulsivity substantially contribute to the exploration of an entrepreneurial intention throughout TPB predictors, with those higher in ADHD symptoms and impulsivity having higher intentions to engage in business venturing. Moreover, UPPS impulsiveness might valuably be incorporated with TPB predictors while predicting behaviors that are often examined as the process of rational cognitive strategies business venturing.Practical implicationsThis study showed that a start-up business can be seen as a career choice for students who exhibit extensive ADHD symptoms to use their talents effectively, thus contributing to creating value for society and improving personal well-being.Originality/valueThis article stood to make contributions to entrepreneurship literature by investigating the effects of ADHD symptoms, four impulsivity traits on an entrepreneurial intention via three precursors in TPB, including attitude toward entrepreneurship, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control.
This study is conducted to investigate the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on supply chain management (SCM) and financial performance, and the effect of SCM on financial performance through the mediate role of corporate reputation and customer loyalty. In addition, the study tests the moderate role of firm size and the ratio of export products in the relationship between SCM and financial performance. The research sample is 389 Vietnamese garment and textile firms by collecting through survey questionnaire. The results show that corporate social responsibility has a positive impact on SCM and financial performance and SCM has a positive impact on financial performance. However, firm reputation and customer loyalty do not have any mediate role in the relationship between SCM and financial performance. Firm size and export product ratio play a moderate role with statistical significance in the relationship between SCM and financial performance.
This study aims to investigate the effects of internal barriers, including personal traits and cognitive conditions, and external barriers, including normative and regulative structures, on entrepreneurial intention among Vietnamese students. By collecting data from 437 students at high schools, universities and colleges in Vietnam, authors employ a quantitative method such as certain descriptive statistics, explorative analysis (EFA), KMO and Bartlett test, correlation coefficient analysis, and logistic regression to examine the relationship between entrepreneurial barriers with different issues including personal traits, cognitive condition, normative and regulative structures, and entrepreneurial intention. The research results show that all four independent variables; namely barriers related to personal traits, cognitive condition, normative and regulative structures had negative effects on entrepreneurial intention. Particularly, cognitive conditions are seen as the most influential barrier to entrepreneurial intention, followed by personal traits, regulative and normative structures.
This study aims to investigate the impact of educational background on perceived opportunities, perceived capacities, and entrepreneurial intention among Vietnamese students. By collecting data from 617 students at universities, colleges and institutes in Vietnam, the study employs some quantitative approaches including descriptive statistics, explorative factor analysis (EFA), correlation coefficient analysis, ANOVA tests and multiple linear regression to analyze the relationship between educational background, perceived opportunities perceived capacities and entrepreneurial intention. In addition, Chi-square and Cramer's V tests are implemented to show the difference of educational background in Vietnamese students' entrepreneurial intention. The research results show that there was a negative relationship between field of studies and perceived opportunities, perceived capacities, and entrepreneurial intention while educational level had positive effects on perceived opportunities, perceived capacities and entrepreneurial intention. Moreover, Chi-square and Cramer's V tests report that there was a strong evidence of educational level difference in entrepreneurial intention but no difference of field of study in entrepreneurial intention.
Knowledge sharing plays an important role in management of universities. Vietnam universities are not highly regarded for their teaching quality and scientific research. It is therefore necessary to promote knowledge sharing through two central processes: knowledge donation and collection as well as individual performance of lecturers. Based on a sample size survey of 312 university lecturers in Vietnam and the methods of analyzing exploration factor (EFA), factor analysis (CFA), structural equation modeling (SEM) to examine the hypotheses of the survey, the study determines that two individual factors; namely job satisfaction and other involvement significantly influenced knowledge donation process. One individual factor also positively influences knowledge collection process, knowledge self-efficacy, and lecturers' willingness to donate knowledge to improve individual performance.
