The effect of weekly iron supplementation with and without deworming on hemoglobin was investigated in a double-masked, placebo-controlled field trial. Subjects were 289 preschoolers who were randomly divided into three groups. Groups 1 and 2 received 30 mg Fe once weekly and group 3 received a placebo. Group 1 additionally received anthelminthic treatment. Supplements were administered by the mothers, who were educated about iron deficiency beforehand. In the iron-supplemented groups prevalence of anemia decreased from 37.2% to 16.2% (P < 0.001). Hemoglobin increased by an average of 6.9 +/- 9.8 g/L in the two iron-supplemented groups (n = 191), which was greater (P < 0.001) than the increase of 1.9 +/- 8.0 g/L in the placebo group. None of the subjects had hookworm, and anthelminthic treatment did not have an additional effect. Iron supplements administered once weekly by mothers reduced anemia without major involvement of health staff.
Genesis tuberculosis relapse is fairly typical of those with pulmonary tuberculosis. The onset of these relapse can cause new problems because it increases the likelihood of `resistance from anti-tuberculosis drugs returning with stronger germs and making it more difficult to treat, medical expenses were higher and treatment success rates are lower. So the study aims to describe the role of the family in supervising the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis patients with relapse cases from December 16th, 2019 to December 23, 2019. The study used interviews and observation methods on the two supervising families who swallowed pulmonary TB patients medications by cases of relapses. The results of this study indicate that the family is optimal in playing a role as a motivator for pulmonary tuberculosis patients and as a supervisor for swallowing drugs, the family has not been optimal in carrying out its role in reminding the sputum re-examination of pulmonary tuberculosis patients with relapse cases and as a companion providing education by health workers about pulmonary tuberculosis with relapse cases. The family may play the role of PMO that watches those with lung TB take the drug regularly until the end of treatment, thus fulfilling the patient's adherence to his obedience to taking the drugs and therapy that are given goes well.
Introduction: Head injury is a traumatic disorder caused by the mechanical strength of a blunt object or penetration that can cause temporary or permanent changes in tissue function and structure. The latest developing concept on poor prognosis among head injury patients was occur related to the secondary injuries, where there was an increase in intracranial, cerebral ischemia, and decreased consciousness. The important thing in the management of head injuries is to maintain hemodynamic stability and to prevent hypoxia by maintaining oxygen saturation >95%. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation of hemodynamic status and oxygen saturation with the level of consciousness in head injury patients at RSUD Mardi Waluyo, Blitar. Methods: The research used correlational analytical with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used consecutive sampling within a total sample of 30 respondents. Spearman's test was used for data analysis. Results: The results showed a correlation between mean arterial pressure (p-value = .004), respiratory rate (p-value = .000), body temperature (p-value = .017), and oxygen saturation (p-value = .000) with level of consciousness (GCS) respectively. Conclusion: It can be concluded that mean arterial pressure, respiratory rate, body temperature, and oxygen saturation can affect the level of consciousness (GCS). There was a need to improve hemodynamic and oxygen saturation monitoring to prevent the bad prognosis in head injury patients at RSUD Mardi Waluyo, Blitar.
