Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to propose a method to choose a set of scientific articles about performance measurement in public utilities regulation. The method is designed to identify references with high academic relevance in databases accessed via the internet, and, through these articles, to perform a mapping of these publications and conduct a systemic analysis. Design/methodology/approach – The study is characterized as exploratory and descriptive with a qualitative and quantitative approach. Incorporates an inductive logic, and draws on primary and secondary data sources. The research involves the application of a technical procedure for selection and study of selected articles. To this end, the process selected was the Knowledge Development Process – Constructivist (ProKnow-C). Findings – The result was a set of 16 renowned scientific articles and, for these papers, the main periodicals, papers, authors and keywords of the topic stood out. The content analysis allowed the identification of highlights and opportunities for future research. Originality/value – The originality of the paper lies in presenting a structured process for identifying relevant academic articles relating to the research context and, for these articles, find prominences and opportunities for a research theme without similar papers.
This research aimed to identify the development of literature on performance evaluation. It is an exploratory and descriptive research study, with a quali-quantitative approach through bibliometric analysis, using the ProKnow-C intervention instrument. The analyses showed that the main featured article was by Neely, Gregory and Platts (1995). The most influential article in the portfolio was Bourne et al. (2000), with the highest level of betweenness. The Balanced Scorecard is the tool that predominates in 23% of studies; in 30% of the works, was developed by proposing models based on the literature while in 24% of them it was based on a proposal developed by the authors. The study contributed to broaden the knowledge about the subject in order to allow an overview of the literature, when knowing the main authors working on the theme, periodicals, articles, themes, tools and areas of practice. Emerging views on the subject are also presented.
ABSTRACTDisorganized urban growth is now a global problem. In this context, the evaluation of performance through tools for the certiication of sustainable urban development appears as an alternative to guide urban real estate developers in decision making. The research aims to address a fragment of literature on performance evaluation for sustainable urban development, aiming at identifying opportunities and possibilities for a future research agenda. The methodological tool, called ProKnow-C, was chosen for selection and analysis of literature. The bibliographic portfolio consists of 31 articles with the following results: lack of scientiic recognition on the researched topic, development of the tools concentrated between 2007 and 2014, and derivation of the tools of evaluation of performance of buildings. The identiied gaps were: need for a network to share information, transparency on the weight given to each indicator, need to evaluate local indicators, among others.
