The synthesis and characterization of some complexes of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cd(I1) with paminoacetophenone benzoyl hydrazone (AABH) were prepared. Elemental analyses, molar conductivities, pH-titrations, magnetic measurements and spectral (IR, UV, NMK and MS) studies have been used to elucidate the structure of the metal complexes. The IR spectra show that the ligand coordinates in the keto and/or enol forms. The formation constants of the Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(I1) and Cd(I1) complexes in solution were studied potentiometrically and spectrophotometrically. Spectral studies in solution show that the ligand could be used for the microdetermination of Cu(lI), Co(I1) and Ni(I1) ions within a concentration up to 44.4, 34.7 and 53.2 ppm of metals, respectively. The antimicrobial activity of AABH and its Cu(ll), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cd(1I) complexes illustrates that all of the complexes have antimicrobial activity except the complexes of Cu(I1) and Co(I1) which seemed inert against Escherichia coli. a In memory of the late Professor M. Lithographic resist materials based on copolymers and/or terpolymers have been synthesised. These materials are comprised of one component to induce water solubility, such as Nvinyl pyrrolidinone (NVP) or N, Ndimethyl acrylamide (DMAC); and another material to give the photoactive response, in this case allyl glycidyl ether (AGE) or glycidyl methacrylate (GMA). Copolymers and terpolymers of various compositions have been prepared by free radical copolymerization. Cationically initiated photocrosslinking was induced using mixed arylsulphonium hexaflouroantimonate (MAS+-SbF6) as a photoacid generating (PAG) species.
