The connection between production of energy and climate change is elucidated. CO2 from burning fossil carbon is the main agent responsible for the hazardous climatic development. The use of this process in energy production has to be vigorously restricted. The gaps have to be filled by conversion of renewable carbon into reduced forms. Big industry shall adopt biotechnology as an enabling technology.

Der Zusammenhang zwischen dem thermodynilmischen Wirkungsgrild und der Geschwindigkeit des mikrobiellen Wachstums wurde auf der Grundlage der linearen Nichtgleichgewichtsthermodynamik und der Kinetik abgeleitet. Die optimale Geschwindigkeit des mikrobiellen Wachstums wurde aus den Ergebnissen bestimmt.Abstract. The relationship between thermodynamic efficiency and rate of microbial growth has been deduced using linear nonequilibrium thermodynamics and kinetics. The optimum rate of microbial growth follows as a result.
