Innovation in teaching and learning (TL) aims to improve the effectiveness of the delivery of knowledge. The impact of effective innovation is a teaching method that looks more interesting with higher acceptance among students. Infiniti Cergas Sihat (InCeS) is a teaching aid that contributes to the development of current TL innovation. Attractive color design and interactive method of playing make this innovation easy for students to accept. This study aims to see the effectiveness of InCeS on TL for students and the focus of this study is on special needs students. A total of 40 special needs students from a school in Pulau Pinang have participated in the program involving the InCeS application in TL. Results from the questionnaire given to the teachers involved during the activities show that the students showed interest in the activities that used InCeS. The teacher's participation in the activity also contributes to the interaction in learning for the special needs students.
Over a year has passed after the massive transition of face-to-face teaching and learning (TL) to online learning (OL) due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Upon this date, OL has become a common practice for primary, secondary, and even tertiary education. This sudden change affects all students from each level of income groups, no exception to the low-income families. The hardship they endure during the pandemic not only to survive the retrenchment but also persisting their children education. The low-income group students must compete between all equipped students, with themselves whom barely have a computer. The aim of the study was to evaluate the low-income and non-low-income students on their perception on OL and the supports they received from their families and instructors. Data were collected from 206 pre diploma students in UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang, on their first-time OL experiences. The data analysis was done on the descriptive (presented in tables and diagrams) and inferential statistics (t-test analysis and chi-square test). Findings indicated that majority of the students received enough support from their families and instructors. However, almost half of the students, either in the low-income group or not, sometimes experienced problems with internet connection and internet data. Furthermore, a few low-income students' families have been affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO), requiring them to balance their time between studying and helping their families. Even though only few students from lowincome group admitted to having a problem with OL, more than half of students from both groups do sometimes have problems with OL should not be overlooked. Prolonging this condition can cause difficulties in their studies.
The whole world is confronted with difficulties during Covid-19 pandemic. Malaysian government has taken proactive measures by conducting nationwide Movement Control Orders (MCO) under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967 for 14 days starting 18 March 2020. By the end of 2021, many people faced stressful, upsetting, and depressing due to prolonged movement control order (MCO). The objective of this paper is to analysed the ability of university students on grasping their emotional wellbeing throughout the prolonged MCO. 107 university students were asked to complete a survey consist of demographics and itemized factors on depression, anxiety and stress using Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21) questionnaire between June,18 to July 23, 2021. DASS-21 score was characterized by 3 levels, (a) normal to mild, (b) moderate, and (c) severe to extremely severe. In each factor (depression, anxiety, and stress), more than 50 percent of the respondents was in normal to mild level. Nonetheless, about 30 percent of the respondents had severe to extremely severe level for anxiety which are higher than other factors (depression and stress). Based on the independent T-test, results showed that anxiety score between male and female were statistically significant (Mean: Male=4.68, Female=6.29, p<0.05). Chi-square results show that only community (neighbourhood) had association with stress level. Meanwhile, gender was the sole association with anxiety factor. From the finding, most female tend to have score as severe to extremely severe in anxiety. Our study highlighted the significantly value related to their demographic background such as gender and neighbourhood.
