Social media has grown rapidly and affects our everyday life. It helps many aspects in our life, including students’ life. Instagram, one of the top platforms to use in the world recently, can be brought to the classroom for student’s learning purpose. Therefore, this research aims to specifically investigate students’ perception toward its usefulness and ease for writing practice. The sample was 31 out of 66 students in English Literature Study Program in the Faculty of Languages and Literature of one state university in Makassar. The data were collected by distributing questionnaire and by interviewing half of the participants. The items in the questionnaire were adapted from Davis (1989) theory about Technology Acceptance Model Articles. Supporting data were taken from the result of an interview. This research found that items in both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness majority received a positive response. Students’ knowledge of Instagram is an advantage in using it as a writing practice medium. The distraction from the learning process is the downside that frequently happened while using it. This indicates that Instagram is a useful media for writing practice.
This research aimed to describe what the Deathly Hallows symbolized in J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”. This was a qualitative content analysis with hermeneutic approach. The primary data was from the novel of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The results of this research were the Deathly Hallows symbolized the thirst of the greatest power which could make the owner immortal, but for Harry Potter they symbolized a test, which tested his mission to defeat Voldemort. The Hallows themselves consisted of three objects which were the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Invisibility Cloak. Each of the Hallows also symbolized different things. The Elder Wand symbolized a wizard’s desire for power, the Resurrection Stone symbolized deep longing towards the loved one who had died, and the Invisibility Cloak symbolized protection.
Effect of Interest Nonverbal Communication Teaching Students Learn. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of nonverbal communication lecturer to student interest in learning the Indonesian education courses. The approach in this study is a quantitative research. The research was conducted on two different courses, namely Indonesian Education Program. These courses are within the scope of the Faculty of Languages and Literature, University of Makassar. In this study, data collection was done by questionnaire and interview. The data collection was conducted to obtain data on the effect of nonverbal communication to the interest of students learning Indonesian Education Faculty of Languages and Literature, University of Makassar force in 2014. In this study, the data collected through questionnaires and interviews were subsequently analyzed by quantitative descriptive and to use the influence menanalisis SPSS program in order to determine the extent of nonverbal communication pengruh lecturer with student motivation to learn. Results of linear regression analysis to test the hypothesis indicates that the value t count> t-table (8072> 2363). From the test results concluded that there is significant influence between nonverbal communication lecturer to student interest in learning.
This study aimed to determine the managerial ability, the suitability of educational background and the suitability with the position, achievement motivation, and satisfaction of the job allowance received by female leaders in Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) Environment. This research is quantitative descriptive research. The populations were all women who occupy structural positions and other positions in Universitas Negeri Makassar amount to 93 people. Data collection techniques were Questionnaire and Documentation. Technique of data analysis was descriptive statistics, with narration and percentage as the form of data presentation. The result of the research shows that (1) The motivation achievement of officials in UNM was influenced by the factors: responsibility, leadership support, working atmosphere, and facilities that can be utilized in working. (2) Job satisfaction of officials at UNM was influenced by several things: salary, facilities, colleagues, working atmosphere, leadership support, and career development opportunities. And (3) also found that the dominant leaders in Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) were male rather than female. Based on the research conducted on Image of Female Leaders in Universitas Negeri Makassar Environment, the researchers put forward the suggestion that it was necessary to provide the same opportunities as women to become leaders in the scope of Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM).
The partner of this service program was the second semester students of Business English Study Program, Faculty of Language and Literature, State University of Makassar. The problem of partner was the lack of knowledge regarding conformity between noun and pronoun in an English sentence so that they continue to make mistakes in writing or expressing an English sentences. The expected outcome was the students have an understanding of noun-pronoun agreements in English and can make English sentences correctly both in oral and written form. The approach used in conducting this program consisted of two methods, namely the presentation and practice. The results achieved were the participants (1) have knowledge and understanding that are likely not at the same level regarding the basic theories of noun-pronoun agreement, (2) are able to adjust between pronoun with the noun that precedes the pronoun (antecedent) in an English sentence, and (3) around 95% are able to do exercises in accordance with the theories in oral or written form even though some of them or about 5% are sometimes still wrong in writing or saying the sentence in English.
