Summary:Sixteen purebred or crosbreed Brown Sviss young bulls were fed extensively with wet beet pulp ration "Feeder's ration" for four n ıonths. They developed acute and nonpurulent form of meningo-encephalo-myelitis (lymphocytaer inflamation) complicated with petechial or echymotic hemorrhages; amourosis or total blindness characterized with exophthalmia, ulcerated kerato-conjunctivitis, degeneration and necrosis of optic nerve at papillary or roote sections with perivascula cuffing and bleedings; catarrhal to necrotic from of rhinitis; a simple inflamation in the spleen and lymph nodes associated with varied size of hemorrhages and hyperplasia of grminal centers; paranchymatous degeneration of liver and kidneys. The encephalo-malacia, formation of the cavities in the brain and epithelial metaplasia that were reported in the literature were absent in our cases. These lesions together with the inflammatory changes regarded to the reduced cellular or humoral prevention niay be classified as an Encephalo-ocular syndrome due to the deficiency of some minerals and vitamines including Vitamin-A; and a secondary infection. Summary: Bovine Malignant Catarrh was diagnosed in 16 cattle and 1 male bison from E, different locations in Turkey. The first case was a heifer examined in April 1966. The sick cattle were all female, and aged between 2-6 years. The diagnoses were based upon clinical symptoms, necropsy and histological findings. Six of the cattle (3 Podolian grey, 2 Anatolian black and a Braun-Swiss) belonging to 2 separate villages were sick clinically and did not receive a necropsy, as the other did. The histologically examined cattle were 5 of Braun-Swiss, 4 Holstein, and 1 Southern Anatolian red milking cows, and the bison was from Ankara Zoo.The lesions were markedly more progressive and severe in bison when compared with cattle. The organs involved, and the inflammatory lesions found in the disease were as follow: Acute nonpurulent meningo-encephalo-myelitis; generalized fibrinonecrotic vasculitis; acute catarrhal-erosive or suppurative kerato-conjunctivitis; erosive-hemorrhagic-diphtheric-necrotic-ulcerated or suppurative types of inflammations spread all over the alimentary canal from the mouth to the rectum; generalized symplex lymphadenitis; fibrinous or diphtheric laryngo-tracheo-bronchitis and catarrhall or even in some cases fibrinous bronchopneumonia that was complicated with the interstitial emphysema in some animals; focal or or diffuse interstitial or glomerulonephritis which usually was complicated with pyelo-ureteritis, cystitis, urethritis, and even balanopostitis of catarrhal, erosive, necrotic or ulcerated type; preputial skin and its mucosa in bison were both inflammed and demonstrated similar lesions seen in the skin of muzzle and around the mouth and the nostrils; degenerations of testicular epithelium which was followed by the sclerosis of gonads. * : Ankara Oniv.
