Inulin is a natural polymer composed of monomers fructose, which is connected with the linear bonding β-2,1-fruktosil-fructose. One source of inulin is the dahlia tubers (65.700%). The purpose of this study was to determine the water content, degree of purity inulin and how the value of the degree of polymerization inulin from dahlia tubers fresh and stored 4 weeks kinds of decorative strands formal crimson crown. This research was conducted experiments in Chemistry Research Laboratory UNP. The object of research was a kind of decorative dahlia tubers formal crimson obtained in the area of Aia Tawa, Kampung Batu nature, Solok. Inulin was characterized by using GC (Gas Chromatograpy) and HPLC(High-PerformanceLiquidChromtography). Determination of water content by using method of the AOAC(Associationof Official of Analytical Chemist).The results showed that the water content of dry weight percent (bk) inulin from dahlia tubers fresh is 2.123%, Inui figure is not much different than the inulin from dahlia tubers stored 4 weeks 2.003%. Based on the GC spectrum can be analyzed qualitatively that inulin extracted from dahlia tubers have a degree of polymerization of smaller than commercialinulin. Chicory Based on the spectrum of HPLC showed that inulin extracted from the tubers of dahlias has a purity level is almost the same as inulin commercial Chicory merck Fluka.
The research has created the module of mole concept based on structured inquiry with interconnection of multiple representation and determined the validity and practicality of the module. The research type was Research and Development (R&D). The development model was 4-D models that consist of four steps: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research was limited on develop step. The instrument of the research was questionnaire form that consist of validity and practicality sheets. The module was validated by 5 validators. Practicality module was tested by 2 chemistry teachers and 28 students of grade XI MIA 5 at SMAN 4 of Padang. Validity and practicality data were analysed by using the kappa Cohen formula. The moment kappa average of 5 validators was 0,95 with highest validity category. The moment kappa average of teachers and students were 0,89 and 0,91 praticality with high category. The result of the research showed that the module of mole concept based on structured inquiry with interconnection of macro, submicro, and symbolic representation was valid and practice to be used on the learning chemistry
Inulin degrading bacteria is a potential source of inulin degrading enzymes, an enzyme which convert inulin into fructose and fructooligo-saccharides (FOS) prebiotic. The purpose of the study was to find inulin degrading bacteria. The methods that used to find inulin degrading bacteria were indirect and direct isolation method using inulin as the sole carbon source. Bacteria was characterized colony morphology. Inulin degrading bacteria were screened from two rizosphere dahlia tuber in West Sumatera (Solok and Padang Panjang). In the research has been found five inulin degrading bacteria isolates. Isolate bacteria RZ-01, RZ-02 from rizosphere dahlia tuber in Padang Panjang, isolate bacteria A1-KG, A2-KG and UKG from rizosphere dahlia tuber in Solok. All isolates grow at room temperature and 40ºC. All isolates were classified as mesophilic bacteria. Shape and colour of RZ-01, A2-KG and UKG colonies were circular and white respectively. RZ-02, A1-KG colonies were circular and yellowish.
Learning media based on three levels representation using Prezi is an alternative learning media that is more interesting and dynamic. Chemical equilibrium material that is difficult to understand by students will be overcome by using this learning media. This research is aimed to develop learning media based on three levels of representation using Prezi and to test the validity and practice of learning media developed. This research is a research development of Research and Development (R & D) by using 4-D development model consisting of 4 stages namely (1) define (definition stage), (2) design (design stage), (3) develop (development stage) and (4) disseminate (stage of dissemination). This study is limited to the development stage. The research instrument used in the form of a questionnaire in the form of validity sheet and practicality. From the results of validity test obtained the average value of kappa moment of 0.89 with the category of very high prevalence. Practicality test results on the students obtained the average value of kappa moment of 0.80 with high practicality category, while the teachers obtained by 0.92 with the category of very high practicality. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded to produce learning media based on three levels of reprsentation using Prezi on chemical equilibrium material is valid and practical, so it can be used in the learning activity of chemistry class XI in SMA / MA.
