The study was conducted to compare the teaching methods and evaluation practices in English subject at secondary school certificate (SSC) and general certificate of education GCE-O -level in Pakistan. The population of the study was students, teachers and experts at SSC and 0-level in the Punjab province. Purposive and random sampling techniques were applied to select the schools and teachers. It was a descriptive study in which the questionnaires were developed to collect the data, and it was analyzed applying t test and chi square. It revealed that GCE-O level results are better due to the availability of competent teachers, educational equipments, management and incentives given to teachers. The examination system also promotes understanding conceptual clarity instead of cramming. It also revealed that the teacher practise Direct, Audio Lingual and activity based methods in GCE -O level system whereas at SSC level system Grammar Translation and Lecture methods were frequently used by the teachers. It was recommended that the steps may be taken from the concerned institutions to design and implement teacher training programme, equip the schools with the modern instructional technology and provision of language based textbooks.
The research aims to determine the influence of application simulation based learning toward understanding of fairy tale for children with hearing impairment in third grade at SLB-B YRTRW Surakarta 2016/2017 academic year. This research uses a quantitative approach to research methods of experimental type of pre-experimental form one group pretest-posttest design. Subjek in this research were students in third grade at SLB-B YRTRW Surakarta 2016/2017 academic year as many as four students. Data collection techniques in this research is an objective test in multiple choice. Data analysis techniques in this research is the analysis of non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank test (Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test) using SPSS versi 22. From the result of calculations using SPSS versi 22, the known value of the average posttest research sample increased. Descriptive analysis result obtained by the average value of 77,5 posttest greater than the value pretest 57,5. Non-parametric analysis result obtained count value Z= -2,000 with Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0,046 at significance level (α) of 5%. Based on the results of data analysis can be concluded that effect of application simulation based learning is positive toward understanding of fairy tale for children with hearing impairment in third grade at SLB-B YRTRW Surakarta 2016/2017 academic year.
Abstract-There are several statistical tools being used for information extraction and knowledge discovery from the students' performance analysis. This paper presents data mining approach applied to discover students' performance patterns in mathematics, English, and programming courses taught in an undergraduate engineering degree program. The interesting patterns emerging from this analysis promise to offer some helpful and constructive guidance to educational administrators and decision makers in higher education sector for the improvement and revision of teaching methodology, restructuring of curriculum, and modifying the prerequisites requirements of various courses.
The purpose of thus research was to determine the influence of icebreaker in enhancing students achievement on mathematic of the children with mild intellectual. Disability of grade IV of SLB Putra Manunggal Gombong in the academic year of 2017 / 2018. This research used quantitative approach with the pre-experimental design using one group pre-test post-test design. The subject of this research were eight students with mild intellectual disability of grade IV of SLB Putra Manunggal Gombong in the academic year of 2017 / 2018. The technique was objective test in the form of multiple choice. the obtained data were analyzed quantitatively with Wilcoxin Sign Rank Test non parametric statistical analysis using 23 SPSS program. Based on the data analysys the post-test mean score of the research subject increased significantly, pre-test mean score was 63,12 and post-test mean score was 77,12. The result of non-parametric statistical analysis showed the score of 2 value=-2,530 with Asymp. Sig (2 tailed) = 0,011 which under 0,05 is smaller than a predetermined significance level or 0,011 < 0,05. It can be concluded that the use of icebreaker had influence in enhancing students achievement on mathematics of the children with mild intellectual disability of grade IV of SLB Putra Manunggal Gombong in the academic year of 2017/2018.
