In Ipoh, Perak, there is a place called Kampung Kuchai. It was a dense settlement with the Malay community at one time. The presence of this area reveals that the Malays have lived in Ipoh for a long time. The question is why the Kampung Kuchai area is not developed like other areas. This study was conducted to raise the potential of Kampung Kuchai as a Malay cultural heritage centre. The study aims to improve the identity of the Malay community and demand the importance of preserving the nation's culture. The researchers have chosen Kampung Kuchai as a case study by conducting site observations and interviewing several respondents who know the area. The strength of this area is not only in the development based on the nation's culture but also in implementing the development of goodwill by highlighting the diversity of building architecture, culture, and local way of life. The researchers found that this area has excellent potential to be developed as a Malay Heritage Center because of its strategic location. It has sufficient resources for developing traditional villages and local historical storytelling, a new tourism product in the Ipoh City Council area.
The generation of international travellers is no longer considered a barrier to tourists to visit places of interest during leisure time. Travelling is about learning, knowledge, and thinking channels. However, most tourists will not travel long distances efficiently, contributing to the lack of interest in international tourist visits. This study aims to identify the motivational factors driving international tourists to travel to Penang based on travel motivation, characteristics, and sociodemographic. The three objectives prompted the investigation. First, to identify the demographic characteristics of international tourists to Penang. Second, to explain the motivation to want to 'seek knowledge and innovation' is the main thrust that drives travel generation. Third, to determine the motivation of the main attractions that can attract international tourists. A set of questionnaires was used to obtain the quantitative data. The questionnaire was distributed and a total of 370 international were in the tourist attractions around Penang. The data was obtained as analysed using the SPSS software. The study results explained that these international tourists consist of young people aged between 21-20 years. Next, there is a significant relationship between sociodemographic and tourist travel characteristics. The main push factor, 'desire to seek knowledge and innovation,' is the motivational factor that brings tourists to Penang, and the main attraction factor is the 'cultural and historical' factor that is possessed in each state.
This study aims to analyse users' satisfaction levels with the facilities and services of a public transportation hub in Malaysia. At present, the public transportation hub is considered an essential urban component in easing transportation issues globally. However, there is an argument regarding the facilities and services provided at these hubs that needs further attention. Therefore, to achieve the study's objective, this research has adopted a quantitative methodological approach to identify respondents' satisfaction levels with hub facilities and services. Primary data for this study was gathered from 100 respondents that used the Gelugor Public Transportation Hub in Penang. Descriptive analysis and inferential analysis were used to identify the satisfaction level of the current facilities and services provided. Findings reveal that several facilities and services of the Gelugor Public Transportation Hub received poor ratings among the respondents. Based on these findings, it is clear that there is a need to improve the facilities and services of this public transportation hub to ensure that it may effectively serve as an efficient urban transport system.
