Islamic counseling is one method of Islamic dakwah that possesses many advantages including the organized consultation. It is intended to find the problems that exist within the client or counselee that requires assistance from a counselor (da’i). Islam counselling is typically preventive, curative, and corrective (alleviation). Besides, counseling is conducted in group or individual, and face to face between the counselor and the client, so the problem and the solution can be revealed clearly. This method of preaching is perceivably quite relevant in dakwah on the consideration that the situation of the development of modern society often creates negative effects on the peaceful and comfort of human life.
This research aims to develop a PowerPoint-based video instructional media. PowerPoint is an office application that teachers can easily operate. There are three steps in the development process of this research, namely, testing the prototype of the material on individual students with three students. It was followed by trials in small classes and large class trials (field tryouts). This small class trial involved eight students, while the large class involved 20 students by taking the students in the class. The first evaluation results of this learning media product were 89.9, followed by the second and third tests, which resulted in the same score of 89.3. It means that the design development of this media product is feasible for the teaching and learning process and can be developed according to the learning needs of the madrasah. The evaluation and product improvement process needs to be carried out to produce good learning media products. This PowerPoint-based video learning media is expected to provide new learning experiences for students because learning is more interesting.
This paper portrays the implementation of character education based on Javanese unggah-ungguh (etiquette) in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Karanganyar, using 24 students from 5th-grade who were mentioned as the alpha generation in 2020. Generally, this generation refers to children born after 2010 in this digital era. The unggah-ungguh is one of the Indonesian ancestral heritages that must be preserved, as though it may originate from Java, it strongly represents the culture of the country’s society. Six (6) characters of Javanese unggah-ungguh were used in this research as indicators, which are tata krama (manners), lembah manah (relent), andhap asor (humility), tepa slira (tolerance), grapyak (friendliness), and ewuh-pekewuh (reluctance). This study was descriptive qualitative research that focused on observing the realization of character education based on this culture, using observation, interview, survey, and documentation as the data collection instruments. As reviewed from the affective theory of Krathwohl Taxonomy, the education character based on Javanese unggah-ungguh has influenced three-component domains of affective attitudes, which are in the level of receiving or attending, responding, and valuing. Lastly, the result showed that implementing character education based on this culture has truly shaped a better personality for students in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Karanganyar as the alpha generation.
