The absence of borders increases the consciousness on the larger access which creates global dependency in many ways such as trades, traveling, tourism, and culture information and creates borderless countries. Lyman (2000) explains that the movement and the influence of globalization are triggered by many factors such as the economic expansion in the form of massive industrialization and the development of science, technology, and communication. The beauty of globalization is the ability to force people to be creative and innovative in creating something beneficial. Culture are wrapped and formed then exposed, which later called as “exporting culture” or in the more popular form, it is called as commodification. The boom of Korean popular culture in all over Asian countries has increased starting in 2000 it moves forward to rule all over Asia (Hyejung: 2007). The rise of Korean Popular culture through globalization triggers a favorable environment to the new commodities allowing interaction between nations. K-Pop Global expansion is through three stages “Competence” or Hard Power, “Attraction” or Soft Power and last but not least Criticism in order to be able to continue or to have a sustainable career in global industries many things should be taken including “facelift”. The purpose of this research is to figure out that commodification on culture is the answer for Korean Music to have successful world expansion and global stage powered with qualitative research is applies in this research.
This study aims to delineate masculinity issues in Guy Maupassant’s Father Milon, A Duel and The Coloniel’s Ideas short stories. This study sees that the practice of masculinity in the society legitimizes the dominant position of men and justifies the subordination of the male and female population in general and other marginalized ways of being male. This study employed Stuart Hall’s representation and Gramsci’s hegemony theories to delineate masculinity in Maupassants’ three short stories. The qualitative descriptive method was applied as the data were in the form of narration and dialogues. The short stories revealed the dominant position of men in society that justifies the subordination of the male and female population in general. Finally, with the creation of different male characters with various degree of masculine nature, Guy Maupassant in Father Milon, A Duel and The Coloniel’s Ideas tries to balance the male character he creates. Maupassant is just trying to paint pictures of different kinds the man seen in society, therefore, confirms the verisimilitude between characters in literary works and real-life characters.
People need to learn about the causes of internal conflict; people need to be aware of experiencing it. Unresolved inner conflict is a major cause of aggression, anger, apathy, and passivity. Emotional discomfort and self-sabotage are specifically related to internal conflict. This research aims to figure out the representation of internal conflict and the causes of internal conflict in Bruce Wayne's character in The Batman (2022) movie. This study applied a psychological approach from Sigmund Freud. The representation theory by Stuart Hall was applied to reveal the representation of internal conflict in the Bruce Wayne character. It was also supported by personality theory by Barbara Engler to determine the type of internal conflict and the theory of internal conflict by Peter Michaelson to determine the causes of internal conflict. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method. The data were a picture, dialogue, and narration, and the data source was from The Batman (2022) movie. The result reveals avoidance-avoidance conflict caused by Bruce's inability choosing to keep being Batman. He destroys himself or stops and leaves Gotham in ruin. Double approach-avoidance is caused by Bruce's inability to choose whether Riddler's method is right or wrong. The revelation from The Riddler causes approach avoidance. Bruce has two choices: not being Batman or continuing to be Batman to make his father proud.
