This study aims to determine and explore how Islam and Malay as an intertwined entity influence the formation of political institutions in the Sultanate of Palembang, especially influencing the appointment and succession of the Sultan. This study is the result of qualitative research based on a literature review using interpretive analysis techniques. In the practice of Islam in Indonesia, cultural values ​​of non-Islamic religions are maintained and practiced by Islamic entities such as practices in the replacement of the King and Sultan. A theoretical approach to society by looking at the evolution of kings approached to explain the history of state administration and the transition of power, combined with Elite; Political Culture, and Cultural Politics. The results of this study found that the system of appointment and change of power in the Sultanate of Palembang, namely the existence of its characteristics associated with a blend of Malay and Javanese culture. Differences in political culture greatly influence the process of succession that occurs. Malay culture which emphasizes more on its economy in the maritime field and Arabic symbols will be different from Javanese culture which is more agrarian and syncretic.

Media Sosial Facebook sebagai Ruang Komunikasi Politik dalam pemilihan Presiden tahun 2019. Latar belakang masalah penelitian  karena media merupakan masalah yang menjadi sorotan publik dan perlu mendapatkan perhatian untuk menanggulanginya. Penelitian ini berusaha menjawab bentuk pemanfaatan media sosial dalam pemilihan pemilihan Presiden tahun 2019, serta efektifitas komunikasi politik dalam media sosial facebook dalam konstalasi politik,. Jenis penelitian menggunakan tipe penelitian kualitatif yaitu prosedur penelitian yang menghasilkan data deskriptif. Sumber data yang diperoleh yaitu data primer dan data sekunder. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi dan melalui kajian literatur pustaka. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu teknik analisa secara kualitatif yang selanjutnya disajikan secara deskriptif. Adapun kerangka konseptual dan teoritis yang penulis gunakan yaitu teori komunikasi politik dan konsep media social.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media sosial seperti facebook sangat berpengaruh pada komunikasi politik serta pemanfaatan media sosial berperan besar dalam Pemilihan pemilihan Presiden tahun 2019. Masing-masing tim sukses calon presiden beradu strategi kampanye melalui internet, terutama media sosial. Namun pemanfaatan media sosial untuk kampanye politik ternyata belum stabil, nampaknya belum bisa mengoptimalkan manfaat internet dan media sosial. Padahal media sosial ini selain sebagai sarana bersosialisasi atau pemasaran  secara online, bisa dimanfaatkan pula sebagai alat kampanye politik yang terbilang praktis. Media sosial facebook sangat efektif dalam mengarahkan pemilih dalam memilih kandidat tertentu. Masing-masing kandidat memanfaatkan rekayasa media sosial dengan membuat grup-grup facebook. Media sosial facebook menjadi sarana bersosialisasi untuk mendulang suara dalam kontestasi politik serta menentukan opini yang menjadi perbincangan masyarakat.

Abstract Regional head elections cannot be separated from the political dynamics that occur in the village. In various regions, the use of identity politics is rampant as campaign material. Therefore, Bawaslu is collaborating with religious leaders to make several movements against the politicization of religion and the issue of identity politics in the 2018 Pilkada campaign. Because the explanation of religious leaders will be very important to cool the warm atmosphere of the 2018 Pilkada campaign. The same is the case with the regional head elections in Betung Village. namely by prioritizing a religious figure as someone who can provide a broad understanding of the 2018 Banyuasin Pilkada.  This research was conducted using qualitative data types. The data source is done by using primary data obtained from field studies and secondary data obtained from literature studies which are then processed and analyzed qualitatively in order to obtain conclusions. Based on the results of research and data analysis, it can be concluded that religious leaders have a very important role in regional head elections in Betung Village.
