The present results show that CAM-ICU is highly sensitive and specific to identify delirium in hip fracture patients in the postoperative period. Among all of the risk factors, cognitive impairment and depressive mood were strongly associated with postoperative delirium. We suggest that a preoperative assessment of cognition and depression might be useful for identifying patients with a higher risk of postoperative delirium. Geriatr Gerontol Int 2017; 17: 919-924.
Our results have shown that both physical and mental health components of QoL were negatively affected by MS. The most important predictor of QoL was depression followed by disability and fatigue. To improve the QoL for MS patients, in addition to physical disability, the influences of depression and fatigue on QoL should be taken into consideration.
