This paper presents automobile tracking system with audio surveillance using GPS and GSM Module to provide an alternative solution to security challenges experienced by car owner, and to develop a system that can track the location of vehicles. We make use of Microcontroller Unit, GPS, and GSM unit. The design is an embedded application, which will continuously monitor a moving Vehicle and report the status of the Vehicle on demand. The PIC18F452 microcontroller is interfaced serially to a GSM Modem and GPS Receiver. A GSM modem is used to send the position (Latitude and Longitude) of the vehicle from a remote place. The GPS modem will continuously give the information indicating the position of the vehicle. The GPS modem gives many parameters as the output, but only the data coming out is read and sent to the user's phone number. We use RS-232 protocol for serial communication between the modems and the microcontroller. A serial driver IC is used for converting TTL voltage levels to RS-232 voltage levels. When the request by user is sent to the number in the modem, the system automatically sends a return reply to the mobile phone indicating the position of the vehicle in terms of latitude and longitude from this information we can track our vehicles.
Open Educational Resources (OER) are those teaching and learning materials that are available either in the public domain or under an open license. The focus of this research work is to propose a conceptual framework for design and implementation of TVET autonomic cloud-based OERs for it integration into classroom teaching and learning strategies towards sustainable development. The beauty of this proposed system is its autonomous and self-managed features. The system will have capability of including the following: laboratory activities; syllabi, homework and assignment; assessments (CBT-computer-based test), lecture notes; audio visual lectures; simulation; lesson plan; and textbooks etc. while the system will be own and maintained by Yaba college of technology Nigeria, it"s services will be available for usage by any individual with interest in TVET across the globe.
The study is to analyze the effectiveness of physical biometrics (thumbprint) in order to determine age and gender in humans. An application system was designed to capture the finger prints of sampled population through a fingerprint scanner device interfaced to the computer system via Universal Serial Bus (USB), and stored in Microsoft SQL Server database, while backpropagation neural network will be used to train the stored fingerprint. The specific Objectives of this research are to: Use fingerprint sensor to collect different individual fingerprint, alongside their age and gender, Formulate a model and develop a fingerprint based identification system to determine age and gender of individuals and evaluate the developed system.
The January 2022 edition of webometric ranking placed Yaba College of Technology as number one from 152 polytechnics in Nigeria. The ranking weight is 66 for country ranking, 8162 world ranking, Impact, Openness, and Excellence of 9698, 4558, and 7190 respectively. The negative variation and low webometric ranking of Yaba College of Technology that happened to be the first higher institution of learning in Nigeria with the slogan the first and still the best is a point of concern and motivates this research work. This research work collected data to evaluate the indicators for webometric ranking among the students and staff of Yaba College of Technology, a total of 346 were sampled students 44.51 % and Staff 55.49 %. The discussion and analysis of data obtained revealed that the poor webometric ranking is due to inadequacy of the necessary ICT infrastructure to encourage robust web presence; non-availability of up-to-date and scanty content on the Polytechnics website; Non-frequent usage of the Polytechnic website by the staff and students of the Polytechnic; the inadequate number of external networks (subnets) links with Polytechnic website; insufficient number of the top-cited publications in high impact Journals from the staff of the Yaba College of Technology; and Scanty number of the profile of staff from the Polytechnic on Google Scholar and ResearchGate, etc. among others. This research work opined that low webometric ranking could result in the following negative impact on the polytechnics lowering the esteem of the Polytechnic in the eyes of stakeholders, potential students and funding agencies, academic exchange with reputable institutions from other parts of the world for teaching, learning and research may writhe. The consequence of our findings recommendations was made to improve webometric ranking in future.
Over the last decade, business organisations have been forced to re-examine the role of Information And Communication Technology (ICT) as a support tool within the organisation and accept that it has become a major driver for business change. E-business is no longer optional and has become the standard mode of operating not only in financial services, publishing and retail where we have already seen rapid and profitable advancement but everywhere business is conducted. Information communication and technology (ICT) refers to a powerful collection of elements which include computer hardware, software, telecommunication networks, workstations, robotics and smart chips. This paper examine how ICT and e-business could be use to empower an organization to achieves their set goals. The paper discusses issues in implementing e-business, ICT and e-business, strategic analysis for e-business solutions and stages for empowering the organisation through ICT and ebusiness, and conclusion with discussion of ICT and e-business as essential tools in modern business.
