Company needs to maintain and to give consideration to their employees as they want the company productivity to gain profits. The majority employees in the company are from millennial generation. Millennial generation without a doubt leaves their company when they have not felt yet attached to the company. Employee engagement is one of the ways that can make the employee stay at the company. Employee engagement which consists of vigour, dedication and absorption dimension are known to have a positive impact on the employee productivity. In contrast, employee disengagement can destruct the company. One of the aspects that can improve employee engagement is work-life balance. The objective of this study is to find out the effects of work-life balance on employee engagement in millennial generation employees. The research participants in this study were employees of PT. Senwell Indonesia from Banjarmasin. In collecting the data, researchers employed a work-life balance scale and the Utrecht work engagement Scale. A simple linear regression was recruited so as to analyse the data. The results have shown that the percentage of work-life balance on employee engagement shows 14.3 %. Companies that give consideration to the welfare of employees' personal life and work life are proven to be able to influence the level of employee engagement in the company.
This study aims to determine the effect of Quality of Work Life (QWL) Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kualitas kehidupan kerja atau Quality of Work Life (QWL) dan motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah adalah Kader TB-HIV yang berjumlah 50 orang, terdiri dari 36 orang perempuan dan 14 orang laki-laki dengan rentang usia antara 18-63 tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi linear ganda untuk menganalisis data yang diperoleh dari kuesioner-kuesioner berbentuk skala Likert. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kualitas kehidupan kerja secara signifikan berpengaruh terhadap kinerja. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai R Square sebesar 0.313 dan nilai p sebesar 0.000 yang bermakna bahwa kualitas kehidupan kerja sebagai variabel bebas mempengaruhi variabel terikat yaitu kinerja sebesar 31%, sedangkan sisanya dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain. Sementara itu, motivasi kerja tidak memiliki efek terhadap kinerja (p>0,05). Implikasi praktis dari penelitian ini adalah semakin tinggi kehidupan kerja karyawan, maka semakin tinggi pula kinerja karyawan. Hal ini selanjutnya dapat membuat karyawan lebih produktif dalam meningkatkan pelayanan kepada masyarakat.
The use of technology in educational settings has many influences, such as ease of information access, teachers work efficiency and increasing student motivation. Quizizz is one of the game-based learning assessment tools that have many benefits, not only make it easy to monitor students' understanding, but also enhance student engagement. Teachers, as the main element in the learning process, are required to increase their capacity to keep up with technological developments. The purpose of this study is to investigate the teachers' attitude and intention to use Quizizz as an online game-based learning platform in the learning process. This study used an action research method. Thirty-two high school teachers in Malang were selected as target groups for this study. The teachers were given training related to the use of Quizizz in the learning process. At the end of the project, they were asked to make their own test using Quizizz. The data were collected using close-ended questionnaires to determine the teachers' attitudes and intentions to use Quizizz. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Most teachers answered that the training provided was beneficial. Findings of the study also show that teachers' attitude towards Quizizz was positive, and they intended to use Quizizz in the learning process in the future. Intention to use Quizizz is also related to the age of the teacher. The older the teacher, the lower the intention to use Quizizz.
Parents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) children generally suffer from poor coping and an impaired quality of life (QoL). This systematic review investigates parenting stress, positive reappraisal coping, and QoL in parents with ASD children. A literature search was carried out for publications written in English on the selected investigation topics using five databases, namely, Scopus, PubMed, Wiley, ScienceDirect Online, and EBSCO. Only studies investigating or measuring parenting stress, positive reappraisal coping, and QoL in ASD were included. Our results indicate that parents with ASD children have high stress levels. This is associated with the ineffective use of coping strategies and a low QoL. Adaptive coping strategies are related to a higher QoL, whereas maladaptive coping techniques are related to a worse QoL. Positive reappraisal coping is negatively correlated to meaningfulness, and it is used by parents to change their daily routines in order to motivate themselves towards new and evolving goals in life. Finally, we found a significant negative correlation between parenting stress, positive reappraisal coping, and the QoL of parents with ASD children. Positive reappraisal coping as a strategy helps parents adapt to stress and was found to be a potential mediatory function between parental stress and QoL.
Teachers are one of the major components in primary and secondary educations who have an important role to determine the future generations. To carry out these important tasks, teachers need a high level of commitment to the profession because it affects the teacher's related work outcomes. Factors that create professional commitment include quality of work life. This study aims to determine the role of quality of work life to the professional commitment of teachers. Subjects were teachers from junior school and high school. The research instrument used the scale of work life quality and the scale of professional commitment. Analysis technique used was the regression analysis. The results of the analysis showed: (1) the quality of work life significantly affects the affective commitment of the profession; (2) The quality of work life does not affect the continuance commitment to the profession; and (3) the quality of work life affects the normative commitment to the profession Keywords: quality of work life, professional commitment, teacher 5th International Conference on Community Development (AMCA 2018)
