The aim of this study was to investigate the pragmatic failure in English and Arabic students at the UIN Alauddin Makassar's Faculty of Adab and Cultural Studies. The data for the study were gathered through observation, distribution of questionnaires in the form of a discourse completeness test (DCT), and interviews. Quantitative and qualitative research data were collected in this research. This study employed three statistical models or techniques: descriptive statistics, association rules (a priori algorithm), Chi Square, and qualitative analysis. The results shos that there are three kinds of pragmatic failure that produced by the English and Arabic students such as sociopragmatic, pragmalinguistic, and psychopragmatic aspects. In addition, The researcher suggests to the next researcher to study more deeply about the types of pragmatic failure in other fields.
Persaingan usaha dan kondisi pasar serta selera pelanggan yang sangat dinamis dan cepat berubah mendorong pelaku usaha untuk terus melakukan perubahan agar selalu dapat mengatasi persaingan. Menurut Porter (1985) ada dua strategi untuk dapat memenangkan persaingan, yaitu melalui cost leadership dan differentiation. Melalui cost leadership memungkinkan perusahaan dapat menekan biaya produksi seefisien mungkin sehingga dapat menetapkan harga jual produk yang sangat bersaing, sementara itu melalui diferensiasi produk dapat memungkinkan perusahaan menghasilkan produk unik yang mengesankan bagi pelanggan bahwa produk yang dikonsumsi sangat berbeda dengan produk pesaing. Kondisi itulah yang pada saat ini sedang diupayakan oleh mitra. Mitra dalam kegiatan ini -360slowmobooth-merupakan pelaku UMKM di Makassar yang bergerak dalam bidang jasa rental photobooth. 360slowmobooth memiliki usaha yang memiliki prospek yang baik dan memiliki keunikan karena menggunakan sistem video foto 360 derajat. Mitra telah mengupayakan suatu inovasi namun mengalami kendala dalam hal penetapan harga jual produk yang bersaing, penyusunan laporan keuangan untuk memperoleh tambahan dana dari kreditur, dan diferensiasi produk untuk meningkatkan brand awareness produknya di masyarakat. Untuk itu, tim PkM Kewirausahaan Universitas Terbuka memberikan pendampingan kepada jasa rental photobooth 360slowmobooth agar mampu mengembangkan usahanya, memperoleh pengetahuan dan bertahan dalam persaingan usaha. Pendampingan ini dilakukan selama 7 (tujuh) bulan dan dilakukan dalam 2 (dua) tahapan yaitu tahap survei awal prospek usaha dan tahap pendampingan.
This research discusses language change as a result of the influence of social media. In an increasingly advanced digital era, social media has become one of the primary communication tools for individuals worldwide. This study utilizes descriptive and comparative analysis methods to explore the influence of social media on language change. Firstly, the research identifies grammar, syntax, and vocabulary changes due to social media usage. Then, the study compares the language used in traditional communication with that used in social media communication. The findings of this research indicate significant language changes due to the use of social media. There is an increase in the use of abbreviations, emoticons, and distinctive terms specific to social media that affect the way humans communicate in a digital context. Additionally, casual writing styles, non-formal language use, and the adaptation of foreign words have become characteristics of social media communication. These language changes can have both positive and negative impacts. On the positive side, social media has enabled faster and more efficient communication between individuals across the globe. Using a more casual and non-formal language can also strengthen social bonds among social media users. However, on the other hand, these language changes can also pose challenges to understanding and communication between different generations or in formal contexts.
