This tutor works in close association with SPARSE, an expert system specialized in the interpretation of the alarm messages produced by the SCADA system during serious incidents. Its main purpose is the training of the control Center operators in this precise task. This paper discusses issues such as the representation of an adequate user model, the acquisition of the domain knowledge to be taught to the operators and techniques for the accurate evaluation of the trainee's progress.volumes of information arrive at the Control Centers, which poses added difficulty to the diagnostic process. The training of these operators is very important for the operation of power systems but it cannot be done in real time because Power Systems became very reliable and therefore opportunities for real life training seldom occur.Other concern is that this training should be able to transfer to the novice operators all the expertise that experienced operators learned by experience.Traditionally Simulators have been used in training courses allowing simulating a set of situations to which the trainees should respond. These applications have, however,
