The descriptive study aims to elaborate on the effectiveness of multimedia-based mathematics learning process in a lesson on the rectangular shape in 7th-grade students in SMP Negeri 11 Gorontalo. There are four indicators investigated in this study, i.e., 1) Teacher’s competence in learning management, 2) Students’ activity during the learning process, 3) Students’ learning outcome, and 4) Students’ response. The result shows that the implementation of rectangular multimedia in the mathematics learning process is categorized effectively. The teachers’ competence in learning management results in effective criteria, included in quite good category. Moreover, the students’ activity is categorized in effective criteria, as the overall percentage meets the minimum effectiveness criteria set. Further, the students’ learning outcome passes the classical competence, as 85 percent achieve score of 70 or more. The students’ response on the learning process also meets the effectiveness criteria; 84 percent of students respond positively or very positively towards the learning multimedia.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan multimedia interaktif pada pembelajaran matematika bangun ruang sisi lengkung. Bangun ruang sisi lengkung yang dibahas, difokuskan pada topik tabung dengan siswa SMP Negeri 2 Gorontalo sebagai subjek penelitian. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi proses pembelajaran dan melalui angket respon peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan multimedia interaktif pada pembelajaran matematika bangun ruang sisi lengkung tabung mencapai kategori “sangat baik”, dengan indikator: kemampuan guru dalam menggunakan multimedia interaktif dalam pembelajaran sebesar 84%, aktifitas peserta didik dalam pembelajaran menggunakan multimedia interaktif sebesar 84%, dan respon positif peserta didik terhadap multimedia interaktif sebesar 85%.
This article discusses the description of students' mathematical connection abilities in solving mathematics on the Pythagorean theorem material. This descriptive research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Bolaang Uki in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 school year. The technique of data collection is done by test. Description test to obtain mathematical connection ability data. The results showed that the students' mathematical connection ability to recognize and use connections between mathematical ideas was 45.14%, the indicator of understanding how mathematical ideas were connected and built on one another to produce a coherent whole was 29.63%, and indicators of the introduction and application of mathematics in daily life by 23.61%.
This study aims to describe the difficulties of online learning in mathematics subjects in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is a descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII 3 and VIII 4 at SMP Negeri 4 Gorontalo. Data collection was obtained from data from questionnaires and student interviews. To see student responses in online learning on mathematics subjects in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, a questionnaire was given with indicators, namely: (1) Difficulty in accessing the internet network and operating online media during learning, and (2) Difficulty in understanding objects, facts, concepts, principles and mathematical operations. Based on the data obtained from 61 students, there were 8 students in the high category, 41 students in the moderate category and 12 students in the low category. This means that the difficulty level of online learning in mathematics subjects in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in class VIII of SMP Negeri 4 Gorontalo is in the Medium category.
Development of instructional technologies gives rise to high demand, including math learning, that can be attained by the involvement of information and communication technology through instructional multimedia. Instructional multimedia are presentation media that combine the whole media elements, such as text, audio, video, animation, and graph. An appropriate and innovative design of instructional multimedia will indubitably provide an effective learning process to students, which then later positively contributing to their learning outcomes. The objective of this study was to develop character-based instructional multimedia of curved three-dimensional shapes in the ninth grade of junior high schools throughout Gorontalo province. The development model referred to the 4-D Model (Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate) proposed by Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel. It was shown that the developed interactive multimedia of curved three-dimensional shapes were valid and feasible according to experts, as well as being practical and bettering students’ responses during the lesson. Additionally, learning implementation by employing the multimedia arrived at excellent criteria and could improve students’ activities and learning outcomes. Based on the observation result, their activities reached excellent criteria. Student learning outcomes also gave classical mastery data with excellent criteria. All in all, instructional multimedia being developed were valid, practical, and effective to apply in the math learning process in the ninth grade of junior high school
