This educational research is carried out to know and rate the level of technostress that the students of bachelor degree may have in order to analyze the presence of this factor of psychosocial risk and its relation to the degree of dropping out and failing that is currently presented. This is accomplished with the objective of the TecNM, of being an institution for the integral formation of competent professionals, and for the implementation of the necessary learning strategies for its achievement. A questionnaire (Cronbach's alpha: 0.913) was designed and administrated to students of 2 different programs, one of them with the obligatory use of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), who during their training use ICT in almost all their subjects. The other was the control group composed of students who use ICT not that often. The applied survey tries to find out positive and negative aspects related to the use of technologies such as attitude, efficiency and anxiety. The initial results show little differences between the two programs, high level of addiction and anxiety which could be a matter to be considered within options to improve or design alternatives to avoid its development, so that it doesn’t influence the raising of indicated rates.
To implement corrective and supportive measures, this educational research is carried out to identify the presence of risky levels of depression, anxiety and / or stress and to evaluate its possible influence on the high rates of failure and drop out of the students of Systems Engineering Computational and Biochemical Engineering. One of the objectives of National Technological Institute of Mexico (TecNM) is to apply teaching strategies that allow a high degree of learning, less dropout and a higher degree of graduation from competent professionals. Applying a systematic stratified random sampling, 262 students were chosen who participated by answering previously assessed surveys (Cronbach's alpha between 0.78 and 0.914). Both programs usually show high rates of failure and low terminal efficiency. Preliminary results show high stress rates and average anxiety in the first grades, this is previously unknown for most of the students; Anxiety and depression presented slight differences between freshman students and the ones of last semesters, without considering that these factors could be determining in their academic performance, the students agree that these problems affect their academic performance, in terms of failure and turn out to be a factor to cause dropout. Objective: to correlate the results obtained in the applied surveys referred to know the degree of depression, anxiety and / or stress among the students of 2 different degrees with their level of academic performance. Methodology.- A stratified random sampling was applied to students of Biochemical Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering. 4 surveys were applied to determine anxiety, stress, depression and influence on their academic performance, the data were analyzed using predetermined scales and the Chi square test to find out the correlation between the mentioned variables. Contribution.- Levels of anxiety, stress and depression were detected in Engineering students and their correlation regarding the affectation in their academic performance, factors to be taken into consideration to avoid failure and desertion.
The historical analysis of a concept allows us to understand its evolution and determine the processes of construction of that knowledge, in the case of the Euclidean space, the theoretical representation entails understanding difficulties during its teaching, which can be attributed to the epistemological obstacle as it will be examined in this article. The historical development of the concept of space is briefly analyzed, in documentary form, first within geometry and later in its generalization as a vector space. Finally, the historical perspective is contrasted, to succinctly examine a didactic proposal, which establishes the conclusion that it is necessary to build knowledge based on the elements that characterize epistemic development, which will possibly originate new pedagogical proposals.
With the goal of know and evaluate the face-to-face education previous to the pandemic and contrasting it with the education accomplished during the COVID 19 pandemic, this research was carried out on undergraduate students. A survey was applied, previously validated (Ortiz-Sánchez et al., 2021), the results allow to know aspects related to ideas that students have expressed during the exercise of online classes and in pre-pandemic. The research was carried out with students of different levels and areas of academic preparation. The results show that in higher education there is a great sense of adaptation to both forms of learning, with a slight tendency to be more interested in face-to-face education, with no significant differences between the opinions shown by the results between online education and face-to-face education. The known of these data can provide the establishment of actions and direction to appropriate methodologies for the future development of the emerging mixed education.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
