Abstract– Agriculture crowdfunding is a new alternative financing for farmers. The purpose of this paper is to understand some added values provided by agriculture crowdfunding in Indonesia compare to traditional financing and to understand the potential demand of crowdfunding platform. This paper also explores what factors influence farmers to choose crowdfunding platform as their alternative financing. A series of in-depth interview were conducted with 3 Indonesian agriculture crowdfunding s and 30 farmers in Central Java area. These data are presented in simple form to compare the benefits of 3 agriculture crowdfunding s and to explain which benefits are interesting for the farmers. The findings in this paper are agriculture crowdfunding provides field support (agriculture expert) and crop buyers which are not provided by traditional financing. Agriculture crowdfunding asks no collateral from the farmers and use profit sharing method. Potential demand for crowdfunding is high because more than 70% of the farmers informant would like to use agriculture crowdfunding for their next source of financing. Research on green consumption has two streams, the stream about how consumers consume green products (consume differently) and the stream about how to consume less. Most research focus on the stream about consume differently, therefore this study would like to contribute to the latter research stream by understanding the determinants of zero waste lifestyle adoption. The 3R theory (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) is used in this study. The object of this study is generation-Z who live in Indonesian big cities, aged between 15 - 24 years. Data collection is done by using online questionnaire to 322 respondents. This study uses descriptive research design and judgemental sampling to collect the data. Data analysis is done by using structural equation modelling. Variables used in this study are attitude toward zero waste lifestyle, social norm, personal norm, altruistic motivation, and social media activity. The findings of this study are social media activity significantly influence reduce, reuse, and recycle behavior, social norms significantly influence recycle behavior only, while other factors do not significantly influence zero waste lifestyle adoption of generation-Z. This study gives insight that social media has significant role in changing consumer behavior to be more sustainable.
Research on agriculture crowdfunding in developing countries is still limited. The crowdfunding platform offers uncollateralised loans to farmers. Therefore, they apply joint liability group lending to lower the default risk. However, from farmer’s point of view, joint liability causes higher risk since every group member bears his/her own risk and that of all other group members. Thus, the purpose of this article is to analyse how joint liability may lower the risk of both farmer and agriculture crowdfunding in Indonesia. A deductive qualitative research design with case study approach is used in this article. A series of in-depth interviews were conducted with one agriculture crowdfunding platform and two farmer groups. Data analysis was conducted by using pattern matching technique. The findings of this article are as follows: joint liability may lower the default risk of crowdfunding platform because the farmer groups are self-selected. The leader of the farmer group plays an important role in monitoring the members, and he may apply social sanction to the defaulting member. By implementing joint liability group lending, crowdfunding platform can provide extension services such as price certainty through contract farming, field agent monitoring and non-cash credit disbursement. These extension services help to lower the farmer’s risk.
