The purpose of this paper was identifying the level of emotional intelligence of future leaders in the level of direct leadership in the Army of the Czech Republic. The concept of emotional intelligence could be characterized as a file of social abilities, attributes and qualities, which are necessary for function of each individual in society, social interactions and during communication with others. Emotional intelligence is connected with required social competences of military leaders. In the research part was used method of quantitative research by using the standardized questionnaire research technique. This is a self‑assessing test of emotional intelligence created by authors T. Bradberry a J. Greaves, which is based on model of author Daniel Goleman. The results of applied method describe the level and differences of emotional intelligence by each participant. The research sample consisted of a total 31 military students of fourth year master’s degree programme of Faculty of military leadership, full time study in University of Defense in Brno. They are future officers, whom after graduation of study programme are predetermined to serve in the direct leadership in Army of the Czech Republic. This is a pilot research which will be followed by further standard research. The results of it are going to be applied the next period for suggestion and recommendation of interactive educational programs enhancing the competence of decision‑making leaders. The results are discussed in the context of the training of military leaders under the auspices of Ministry of Defense in the Czech Republic.
The contribution is aimed at describing the importance of competencies in the lifelong learning processes, the definition of the concept of competency and the components of a learning competency. On the basis of the above-mentioned theoretical approaches, it identifies the possibility of using the most current approaches to increase the measure of efficiency of educational and training processes in military professionals of the Army of the Czech Republic. A system of further education has been created in the Army of the Czech Republic, which is designed as a system of various courses, trainings, stays abroad and other activities. These are formulated in the concept of staff development, which allows the staff to actively approach their self-development. Part of the paper describes the project investigating some aspects of motivation to learning in military professionals and the selected results acquired using the quantitative research method.
The article refers to research conducted at War Studies University in Warsaw and at Defences University in Brno amongst bachelor's degree students of the sixth semester of full-time studies studying in the fields related to security. The research aim was to identify leadership competence of the students.
Abstract-The article refers to examinations conducted at Higher Bank School in Poznan and in Gdansk and at University of Defence in Brno, on the field of internal security undergraduate studies, by which students of the 6. semesters were encompassed. Aim of examination was establishing, whether Colleges fulfil a duty of educating managers of Security studies across the leadership competence range.
