Vocabulary is one of the important components to master all of language skills. It has strategic positions in education and teaching. Fly Swatter game is an interesting technique in teaching and learning that makes the students can learn through playing. Therefore, this study aims to find out whether the game of Fly swatter can significantly enhance the student’s vocabulary mastery or not. It focuses only on mastering adjective and noun class. The sample of this research was the students of Paguyaman Junior high school at VII B class. Further, this study is using quantitative analysis, in investigating the student’s improvement in mastering vocabulary, the researcher give test to the students which consist of 40 numbers, which divided into 20 tests each for noun and adjective. To analyze the student’s improvement, the researcher use pre experimental design, there are three steps used that are pre test, treatment, and post test. The finding reveals that there is significance improvement on the result of pre test and post test. It was from 40% which categorized in poor level increase into 95% which categorize in excellent level, with the total increases was around 55% . Furthermore, it was proved by the result of hypothesis verification, it is found that T count = 19, 44 at the level of significance (a = 0, 05) and degree of freedom (df ) = 19-1=18. Then, it is found that T table = 2,101, it can be concluded that fly swatter game can increase students ability in vocabulary, because based on the criteria above shows that T count is more than T table 19, 44 ≥ 2,101.
The objective of this research is to obtain the empirical data about the correlation between vocabulary achievement of Computer Engineering Network (TKJ) students and their learning habit using computer at SMKN 1 Pulubala. This research use correlation method and quantitative descriptive design to measure the correlation. This research was conducted to 67 Computer Engineering Network (TKJ) students at SMKN 1 Pulubala. After doing the research, the researcher concluded that there is a correlation between vocabulary achievement of Computer Engineering Network (TKJ) students and their learning habit using computer. It can be seen through the result of the correlation calculate using SPSS Computer for Windows show a value of 0.507. Based on the interpretation of the correlation result, it can be concluded that correlation between vocabulary achievement of Computer Engineering Network (TKJ) students and their learning habit using computer has medium correlation. The researcher has also measured the influence of correlation between vocabulary achievement of Computer Engineering Network (TKJ) students and their learning habit using computer found 91.04% in the frequency of learning habit and 80.59% in verb. Teaching Gorontalo language is one of the Gorontalo government efforts to maintain Gorontalo culture. It has been being taught in elementary schools for years and continuously becomes the government concern. In the previous research (Husain, Bay and Mamu, 2017), the result of questionnaire generally indicated that the textbook used in teaching Gorontalo language was not colorful and attractive and the content was too monotonous. Additionally, certain teachers did not even use any textbook to teach and just tried to browse material on the internet. This research intends to create a textbook that will be used for teaching Gorontalo language in elementary schools based on the syllabus produced in the first year of research. Syllabus and textbook are created by adapting English for Young Learners (EYL) learning strategy. The content focuses on traditional musical instruments, traditional songs, traditional games and traditional dances and is introduced simply and nicely to the students as in EYL learning strategy. The students will have two benefits; they can learn Gorontalo language and its cultures at the same time. The research applies the Research and Development Method (Sugiyono, 2014, p. 297) to create the textbook of Gorontalo language with five main steps namely (1) creating the textbook; (2) validating the textbook; (3) textbook trial in elementary school; (4) Evaluating the textbook; (5) producing the textbook. Textbook as the research output is expected to provide a new sight of Gorontalo language learning for both teachers and students by adjusting EYL learning strategy to sustain Gorontalo culture.
Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk membantu siswa SD mengatasi kesulitan dalam menulis bentuk huruf dari angka dalam bahasa Inggris menggunakan media visual berupa Number Tracing Worksheet. Melalui penggunaan media visual ini, diharapkan terdapat beberapa perubahan atau pembaharuan, yaitu meningkatkan minat siswa dalam belajar English numeral, meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap English numeral, meningkatkan keterampilan motorik halus siswa, dan meningkatkan kreativitas siswa. Dengan demikian, diharapkan pengajaran English numeral pada siswa SD dapat memberikan manfaat yang lebih besar bagi siswa dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris.
