Background: Type two Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common health problems all over the world. As evidence by recent studies: Type Two Diabetes Mellitus complications have been more distressed by sleep disturbances. Aim: To evaluate the impact of implementing sleep hygiene program for patients with type two diabetes mellitus and uncontrolled glucose level. Design: Quasi-experimental research design was used. Sample: A purposive sample of 70 patients of both sexes with type two diabetes mellitus (aged 20-60 years, Insomniac patients, diagnosed with type two diabetes for at least 1 year and not more than 10 years). Tools: Two tools were used to collect data. Tool 1: Structured interview questionnaire sheet. Tool 2: Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index for sleep quality assessment. Results: Majority of studied patients were suffering from poor glycemic control regarding poor sleep quality (70%). More than two thirds of patients in study group suffering from moderate difficulties in all areas of sleep assessment in 1 st interview. While, in 4 th interview was noticed that this percent dropped to less than one quarter. Conclusion: Patients in study group who utilized sleep hygiene program exhibit more glycemic control. Recommendations: Educational module of "sleep hygiene program" must be explained for all Type two Diabetes Mellitus patients and how they can utilize it.
Chemotherapy is one of the treatment modalities for cancer. Chemotherapeutic agents had described as carcinogenic, teratogenic, also mutagenic to staff worker so that occupational exposure to chemotherapeutic agents had a highly potential risk. Educational program is a valid tool for providing nurses with updating knowledge and practice about this drugs. Therefore, the aim of this study, examine the effect of implementing educational guidelines about chemotherapeutic drugs on nurse's knowledge and practice. Method and sample, Quasi-experimental research design was conducted in the medical department and outpatient chemotherapy unit at Mansoura Oncology Center of Mansoura University Hospital. The sample of this study composed of 35 nurse who are dealing with this drugs through preparation and administration for cancer patients. Results, indicates significant improvement into nurses knowledge and practice after implementation of educational guidelines. Conclusion, positive effect of educational guidelines about chemotherapeutic drugs on nurse's knowledge and practice.
Leukemia is common neoplastic disease accounting 40-55% worldwide. Malnutrition in cancer patients has been reported occurrence 36% of patients in USA and in 50 % of patients in Netherlands. Patients' nutritional needs must include energy requirement to support the patient during the disease and its treatment. Aim: To evaluate the impact of applying dietary pattern on the nutritional status of patients with leukemia undergoing chemotherapy. Design: Quasi/experimental research design was utilized in this study. Sample: A purposive sample of 120 patients with leukemia was included in the study. Tools: Data was collected by using two tools. Patients were interviewed to collect socio-demographic data and medical history of the disease. The subjects were undergone a comprehensive nutritional assessment and application of dietary pattern. Data was collected during a period of 6 months. Results: The results showed that impact of dietary pattern during chemotherapy was significantly effective in improving the ` nutritional status, the chemotherapy side effects and their management. It also showed improvement in the leukemic patients` anthropometric measurements and laboratory investigations. Conclusion: Impact of a dietary pattern during chemotherapy was significantly effective in improving the patients 'nutritional status and their knowledge about nutrition and treatment Recommendations: Emphasizing the importance of nutritional assessment and management process in the medical settings are mandatory. Educating and training the nursing staff to be familiar with how and when to apply such process and improving the food services in medical setting are highly recommended.
Background :Vulvular heart replacement surgery is an increasingly important in cardiac valve disease management .VHRS tends to be suitable for clinical pathway development because high volume , high cost of the surgery and predictable course of events that occur during hospitalization .The aim of this study was to determine the effects of implementing clinical pathway on pain and anxiety for patients undergoing cardiac surgery . Subject and methods, this is a randomized controlled design was utilized . This study was carried out in cardiothoracic surgery unit at the Mansoura University Hospital . A Purposeful sample of 50 adult patients of both sexes scheduled for vulvular heart replacement surgery was included in the study (25 clinical path group and 25 control group ). Two tools used for data collection pain scale tool and State trait anxiety inventory .The clinical pathway for cardiac surgery patients conducted in four phases : Phase one : patients assessment , Phase two :cardiac valve surgery clinical pathway establishment and jury . Phase three: implementation and tracking variances . Phase four :Evaluation .The main results of study demonstrated no statistical significant differences in basic data on admission ,.the CP group had significantly lower level of anxiety and pain than the control group before and after surgery . All of the patients in CP group had no variance from VHRS pathway which prove the preset hypothesis of the study .
