Critical thinking can be surely taught and practiced for all educational graders. However, in educational field, it is still few teachers who facilitate students' mathematics critical thinking. The aims of this study is to know whether the implementation of practical learning method significantly affects students' mathematics critical thinking skills in learning mathematic at junior high school. The significances of the study are to give students' active role in learning process, to improve students' comprehension towards mathematic concept, and to upgrade students' mathematics critical thinking. This research method is experiment method with design path analysis. The population was taken from all eighth graders which are 265 students of SMP N 3 Sumber period 2014/2015. The, the random sampling was used to gain 44 students of VIII E grade. The technique of data collection including questionnaire and essay test was used. The results of questionnaire showed that 25 or 57 % students gave responses very positively toward the implementation of practical learning method. Then, 19 or 43% students gave positive response toward the implementation of practical learning method. The result of t-test showed that there is a linier relationship between practical learning method and mathematics critical thinking with = 1,341 X. Coefficient with positive response means that there is a significant relationship between practical learning method and mathematics critical thinking by implementing practical learning methods very often may improve students' mathematics critical thinking. According to the result of t-test, it is showed that taccount = 6,509 > ttabel = 2,020. It can be concluded that the implementation of practical learning method significantly affect students' mathematics critical thinking at VIII E grade of SMP Negeri 3 Sumber Kabupaten Cirebon.
This study aims to describe whether or not mastery of trigonometry affects students' ability to solve geometric problems in class X at SMAN Kadugede. The form of research used in this study is a quantitative research method. The research design used in this study is a one-shot case study, meaning that the treatment is applied to one experimental group, and then the dependent variable is measured. This design aims to determine a variable's effect on other variables effectively. The data collection instrument used was a test of mastery of trigonometric material and students' abilities in solving three-dimensional space problems. The population in this study was 253 students of class X; in this study, the authors took samples using the cluster random sampling technique with the object sampled in this study, namely class X 4, as many as 34 students at SMA Negeri 1 Kadugede. Analysis of the research data using linear regression test. Mastery of trigonometry material significantly influences mastery of three-dimensional space material. This is indicated by a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05 and the regression equation obtained is Y = 11.435 + 0.758 . The equation means that the ability to solve geometrical problems increases or increases by 0.758 times the mastery of trigonometry material, while the constant value of 11.435 states that if students do not have mastery of trigonometry material, then the ability to solve three-dimensional space problems is shallow. The results of the statistical test showed that there was an effect of mastery of trigonometry material on students' ability to solve three-dimensional problems.
[English]: This research aims to develop and evaluate a higher-order thinking skill (HOTS)-based test for a matrix topic. The development was carried out in two stages; items development and validation. The first stage was to review relevant literature about HOTS, design the test items, have experts review, and try out the items. Fifty-one upper secondary school students were involved in the tryout. In the second stage, results of the tryout were validated referring to the classical test and item response theory, including items characteristics, validity and reliability, items discrimination, and difficulty levels. The validation resulted in five valid test items (r1=0,54; r2=0,88; r3=0,72; r4=0,78; r5=0,82). The developed test represents the topic, fulfills HOTS criteria, is reliable rα=0,85, can differentiate students with higher-order thinking, and has varied difficulty levels.
Mathematicts learning process ussually takes place with the lecture method. So that students just listen, not many ideas put forward, students feel bored, especially math lessons they find difficult. In mathematical operations form the subject of algebra are abstract elements, they have difficulty understanding abstract concepts. One effort to help students understand the concept of algebra by using props AEM (Algebraic Experience Materials). The purpose of this study to determine the students 'response to the use of props AEM (Algebraic Experience Materials), to determine students' creative thinking skills in the subject of mathematics learning operations in the algebra of MTs Al-Hidayah Ciawijapura. In addition, to determine the effect of the use of props AEM (Algebraic Experience Materials) to creative thinking skills of students on the subject of operations in the algebra of MTs Al Hidayah Ciawijapura. Based on the results of the study, students' response to the use of props AEM (Algebraic Experience Materials) in mathematics including a very strong category with an average of 82.23%. Creative thinking skills of students in mathematics learning test average of 75.21%, the value of good category. While the results of the use of the analysis of hypothesis testing showed t_hitung> t_tabel or 2.977> 2.042. This means that the use of props AEM (Algebraic Experience Materials) to creative thinking skills of students there is the influence of 22.29% and the remaining 77.71% influenced by other factors not examined. Kata Kunci : AEM (Algebraic Experience Materials)
