Catfish production from year to year has increased. Catfish production in Indonesia in 2013 reached 758,455 tons. The socialization of catfish hatchery using semi-artificial spawning is aimed at cultivating the community to increase seed yields and carry out catfish hatchery with semi-artificial spawning methods. The method used is the method of presentation and practice. Counseling on catfish spawning with semi-artificial techniques is very useful for groups of fish farmers, this is evident from the enthusiasm of the community who are enthusiastic in participating in the socialization from beginning to end.
Overfishing and overcapacity is a problem for the sustainability of capture fisheries development. Indonesia has experienced overfishing or called overfishing and overcapacity or called excess fishing capacity. The west coast of the island of Sumatra has enormous fishing potential, both in territorial waters and in ZEE waters. The purpose of the study was to understand the trend of fluctuations in fish catches in the waters of West Sumatra. Assessing the effect of boat trips on fish catches in the waters of West Sumatra and providing basic information and management of fisheries in the waters of West Sumatra. The research material used is Catch per Unit Effort (CPUE) data. The overall data was monthly average data in 2019 with fishing ground areas in the Western waters of Sumatra, the Indian Ocean. The results showed the composition of catches in the waters of West Sumatra landed in PPN Sibolga there are three dominant types of fish, namely skipjack tuna 14.566.140 kg (49.90%), decapterus 6.404.470 kg (21.94%) and tunny 2.480.880 kg (8.50%), The dynamics of fish catches in PPN Sibolga in 2019 were highest in May at 3.945.143 kg and June was the lowest catch month of 1.093.292 kg and the average monthly catch in 2019 was 2.508.436 kg, the catch per business unit landed in PPN Sibolga in 2019 obtained the highest CPUE of 8.474 kg/trip (July 2019) and the lowest 1,755 kg/trip (June 2019).
The western waters of Sumatera are one of the waters that have the potential of coastal and ocean resources. Oceanographic factors that can be related to high productivity in waters are SST (Sea Surface Temperature) and the distribution of chlorophyll concentration. Sibolga waters are geographically quite strategic, because they are located in the Indian Ocean, most of the catch is landed at the Sibolga Nusantara Fisheries Port. This Study aims to understand the trend of fluctuations in fish catches in the The Waters of Western Sumatera, to examine the effect of chlorophyll on fish catches in the waters of West Sumatera. Sea surface temperature and monthly chlorophyll-a concentrations were obtained from the result of the Aqua Modis months in 2021. Monthly data and data on fishing results were obtained from the Sibolga Nusantara Fisheries Port. The composition of catches in the western waters of Sumatera which landed at PPN Sibolga in 2021there three dominant fish species, namely Cakalang (Katsuwonis Pelamis) 11.655.768 Kg, Layang (Decapterus Sp) 4.589.147 (19,95%), Tembang (Sardinella sp) 2.421.523 (10,53%), the variation of fish catch per unit (CPUE) ;anded at PPN 2021. The Highest occurred in may at 3.809 kg/trip and the lowest occurred in November 1.521,58 kg/trip and the average monthly CPUE in 2021 was 5.105,88kg/trip. Monthly variations of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a in the waters of for 12 months (2021) the lowest temperature occurred in August, namely 26,88 0C while the highest temperature in February was 30,92 0C, the highest consentration was in May of 1,56 mg/m3 while the lowest occurred in March at 0,15 mg/m3.
